Descemet membrane detachment (DMD) is a potential vision-threatening complication that occurs most commonly after cataract surgery. DMD has also been reported to occur in various other surgeries such as keratoplasty, iridectomy, vitrectomy, trabeculectomy, holmium laser sclerostomy, alkali burn, and viscocanalostomy. Major risk factors include advanced

Four eyes of three patients had extensive postoperative Descemet membrane (DM) detachment. Blood was present just anterior to the DM in three of the four eyes and later converted to and persisted as pigment. Haziness of the cornea at the level of the DM could be seen with reattachment.

Descemet membrane endothelial transfer
Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2014To elaborate on the recent concept of Descemet membrane endothelial transfer (DMET) and to explore the concepts that underpin its success through reviewing the key articles that have challenged our current understanding of corneal endothelial cell behavior.DMET challenges the paradigm that complete graft-host apposition is required for successful ...

Non-Descemet Stripping Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty
Cornea, 2013To report a case of non-Descemet stripping Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (nDMEK) in a patient with pseudophakic bullous keratopathy.A 70-year-old man underwent an nDMEK in his right eye, which suffered from pseudophakic bullous keratopathy after a complicated cataract surgery was performed.
