Descemet’s Membrane

2010
Descemet’s membrane is an extraordinary thick basement membrane, which is unique in the body with respect to both its dimension and composition. It is built by the cells of the flat squamous epithelium that lines the posterior surface of the cornea and is designated as corneal endothelium.

Proliferation of Descemet's Membrane

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1969
CYLINDRICAL, glassy appearing structures attached to the posterior surface of the cornea and extending partially or entirely back to the pupil have been described in eyes having a history of a corneal perforating wound. They have been called by other authors, glassy cones1or Descemet's membrane tubes.2The histopathology of these structures has not yet ...

Descemet membrane detachment after viscocanalostomy

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2000
To report a case that developed a large Descemet membrane detachment after viscocanalostomy.Case report. A 60-year-old man with primary open-angle glaucoma underwent viscocanalostomy RE. One day after surgery, a small, localized detachment of Descemet membrane was present at the operation site. Six months after surgery, he had a large superior Descemet

Management of Descemet’s membrane detachment

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1995
Detachment of Descemet's membrane is a rare but serious complication of cataract surgery. Most surgeons attempt to reposition the membrane by injecting air, slow-reabsorbing gases, or viscoelastic substances into the anterior chamber. We describe five cases of subtotal detachment without rolled scroll.
