Descemet’s membrane detachment after cataract extraction surgery

International Ophthalmology, 2010
Descemet's membrane detachment (DMD) is a rare but potentially serious complication of intraocular surgery, most commonly cataract extraction. Many predisposing factors of DMD have been postulated; however, none have proved to be significant. Most DMDs are surgically induced; however, the occurrence of this entity bilaterally, during or after otherwise

Descemet Membrane Detachment

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1977
Four eyes of three patients had extensive postoperative Descemet membrane (DM) detachment. Blood was present just anterior to the DM in three of the four eyes and later converted to and persisted as pigment. Haziness of the cornea at the level of the DM could be seen with reattachment.

Descemet membrane detachment after viscocanalostomy

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2000
To report a case that developed a large Descemet membrane detachment after viscocanalostomy.Case report. A 60-year-old man with primary open-angle glaucoma underwent viscocanalostomy RE. One day after surgery, a small, localized detachment of Descemet membrane was present at the operation site. Six months after surgery, he had a large superior Descemet

Management of Descemet’s membrane detachment

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1995
Detachment of Descemet's membrane is a rare but serious complication of cataract surgery. Most surgeons attempt to reposition the membrane by injecting air, slow-reabsorbing gases, or viscoelastic substances into the anterior chamber. We describe five cases of subtotal detachment without rolled scroll.

Retrocorneal Membrane With Descemet's Detachment

Cornea, 2001
To describe a unique case of retrocorneal membrane with large Descemet's detachment.Case report of a 65-year-old man reported intermittent cloudy vision in his left eye. The patient underwent serial ocular examinations and slit-lamp photography over 6 weeks. The patient had an inflammatory-appearing membrane that covered 60% of the posterior cornea ...

Bilateral Descemet membrane detachment after canaloplasty

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2010
We report a case of bilateral Descemet membrane detachment (DMD) after canaloplasty in a 70-year-old Portuguese man with primary open-angle glaucoma. The patient developed bilateral DMD immediately following consecutive (1 week apart) canaloplasty surgery in both eyes. Slitlamp biomicroscopy, gonioscopy, and Fourier-domain optical coherence tomography (

Descemet's Membrane Detachment by Sodium Hyaluronate

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1985
The inadvertent injection of sodium hyaluronate (Healon) just anterior to Descemet's membrane during an extracapsular cataract extraction resulted in a corneal opacity. No extraordinary measures were taken to remove this substance. The opacity resolved over five months, with a final visual acuity of 20/25 and a reduction in specular microscopic cell ...

Hemorrhagic Descemet's membrane detachment after viscocanalostomy

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2003
We report a case of hemorrhagic detachment of Descemet's membrane after viscocanalostomy. A 60-year-old man with pseudoexfoliative glaucoma had an uneventful viscocanalostomy in the right eye. On the first postoperative day, a 5.0 mm x 5.0 mm Descemet's membrane detachment was present in the superior nasal quadrant.
