Introduction The success of keratoplasty strongly depends on the health status of the transplanted endothelial cells. Donor corneal tissues are routinely screened for endothelial damage before shipment; however, surgical teams have currently no means of ...

Comparative outcomes of penetrating and component endothelial cell corneal allografts in outbred sheep [PDF]
Lamellar (component-cell) corneal transplantation is replacing penetrating keratoplasty for some corneal disorders in humans; but the relative risks of immunological graft rejection for the two procedures are uncertain.

Genetic risk factors in Finnish patients with Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy
Abstract Purpose To study the genetic risk factors of Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) in the Finnish population using hospital‐based and large biobank cohorts. Methods We genotyped a cohort of 107 Finnish patients with FECD for the primary associated genetic risk factor, the TCF4 (CTG)>50 expansion, and studied their clinical phenotype.

Abstract Late‐onset Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) is the most common primary disease of the corneal endothelium and the leading indication for corneal transplantation in Western countries. It is characterized by progressive accumulation, over two to three decades, of extracellular matrix (ECM) components in Descemet's membrane (DM ...

Graft failure rate and complications after Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty in eyes with pre-existing glaucoma [PDF]
Purpose: To evaluate the outcome of Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) in eyes with pre-existing glaucoma. Design: In this retrospective, observational case series we included data of 150 consecutive DMEKs in eyes with pre-existing ...

ABSTRACT Ophthalmic surgeries pose infection risks. Traditional control methods rely on manual monitoring, creating a need for more precise, data‐driven nursing models. This study evaluated the effectiveness of real‐time data analysis in improving ophthalmic infection prevention and control outcomes.

Triamcinolone Acetonide-Assisted Descemetectomy for Retained Descemet Membrane
We present a case of decreased vision due to the presence of retained Descemet membrane (DM) following Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) and penetrating keratoplasty (PKP). A 78-year-old male presented postoperatively from PKP
