Augmenting Corner Descriptors [PDF]
A failing of many gray-level corner detectors is that they do not extract most of the attributes of a corner apart from its strength. This paper provides several postprocessing techniques for determining additional corner attributes (i.e., color, orientation, subtended angle, and contrast).

Organoids in pediatric cancer research
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

A Reflective Symmetry Descriptor [PDF]
Computing reflective symmetries of 2D and 3D shapes is a classical problem in computer vision and computational geometry. Most prior work has focused on finding the main axes of symmetry, or determining that none exists. In this paper, we introduce a new reflective symmetry descriptor that represents a measure of reflective symmetry for an arbitrary 3D

Genotype authenticity of the major fig (Ficus carica L.) cultivars in Croatia [PDF]
The fig is one of the oldest fruit species in the world. The intensity of fig cultivation in Croatia varied from complete neglect to gradual revitalization and popularization, which raises the question of the uniformity and reliability of the existing ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Discriminative Learning of Deep Convolutional Feature Point Descriptors
Deep learning has revolutionalized image-level tasks such as classification, but patch-level tasks, such as correspondence, still rely on hand-crafted features, e.g. SIFT.

Automated descriptors for high-throughput screening of peptide self-assembly [PDF]
We present five automated descriptors: Aggregate Detection Index (ADI); Sheet Formation Index (SFI); Vesicle Formation Index (VFI); Tube Formation Index (TFI); and Fibre Formation Index (FFI), that have been designed for analysing peptide self-assembly ...

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
