Aminoquinolines as Translational Models for Drug Repurposing: Anticancer Adjuvant Properties and Toxicokinetic‐Related Features

open access: yesJournal of Oncology, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
The indiscriminate consumption of antimalarials against coronavirus disease‐2019 emphasizes the longstanding clinical weapons of medicines. In this work, we conducted a review on the antitumor mechanisms of aminoquinolines, focusing on the responses and differences of tumor histological tissues and toxicity related to pharmacokinetics.

Effects of DMSO on the Pluripotency of Cultured Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells (mESCs)

open access: yesStem Cells International, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
DMSO is a commonly used solvent in biological studies, as it is an amphipathic molecule soluble in both aqueous and organic media. For that reason, it is the vehicle of choice for several water‐insoluble substances used in research. At the molecular and cellular level, DMSO is a hydrogen‐bound disrupter, an intercellular electrical uncoupler, and a ...

Biases in Amphibian Sampling in the Amazon: Using Infrastructure and Accessibility Data to Identify Sampling Gaps

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 5, September 2025.
Biogeographic knowledge of Amazonian amphibians is constrained by spatial and temporal coverage, leading to biases that affect the understanding of their diversity patterns. Using an extensive occurrence database, this study identified knowledge gaps and sampling biases linked to infrastructure and accessibility factors across the region.

Harnessing the potential of integrated systematics for conservation of taxonomically complex, megadiverse plant groups

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 511-522, June 2019., 2019
Abstract The value of natural history collections for conservation science research is increasingly recognized, despite their well‐documented limitations in terms of taxonomic, geographic, and temporal coverage. Specimen‐based analyses are particularly important for tropical plant groups for which field observations are scarce and potentially ...
