PGPG: An Automatic Generator of Pipeline Design for Programmable GRAPE Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We have developed PGPG (Pipeline Generator for Programmable GRAPE), a software which generates the low-level design of the pipeline processor and communication software for FPGA-based computing engines (FBCEs).

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Maximum a posteriori estimation for high-throughput peak fitting in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials: Methods
We introduce a peak fitting method to estimate the model parameters and the number of peaks without using the conventional trial-and-error approach. The proposed method automatically removes excess peaks using maximum a posteriori estimation.

User perspective for interactive handbag design

open access: yesProceedings of the 18th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction with Mobile Devices and Services Adjunct, 2016
In this paper, we address handbags as interactive mobile devices. As handbags are typical accessories carried practically by half of the adult population when on the move, they offer an interesting and widely distributed platform for mobile computing.

High luminosity interaction region design for collisions with detector solenoid

open access: yes, 2010
An innovatory interaction region has been recently conceived and realized on the Frascati DA{\Phi}NE lepton collider. The concept of tight focusing and small crossing angle adopted until now to achieve high luminosity in multibunch collisions has evolved

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Bodystorming for movement-based interaction design

open access: yesHuman Technology, 2016
After a decade of movement-based interaction in human-computer interaction, designing for the moving body still remains a challenge. Research in this field requires methods to help access, articulate, and harness embodied experiences in ways that can inform the design process.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
