Designing for technology-mediated collaboration

open access: yes, 2018
This thesis concerns the design of a synchronous shared workspace supporting technology-mediated collaboration. In order to collaborate, participants need to be able to coordinate the activity. And to coordinate an activity, they need be aware of others involved in the collaboration. However, what do we need to be aware of concerning the others?

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Exploring the role of vitamin D in cognitive function: mediation by depression with diabetes modulation in older U.S. adults, a NHANES weighted analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
BackgroundThe relationship between vitamin D levels, depressive symptoms, and cognitive function has yet to be definitively understood in the elderly, particularly when considering the impact of chronic diseases.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

How academic stress leads to artificial intelligence-generated design dependency: the roles of academic procrastination and help-seeking behavior

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
Against the background that design students generally rely on artificial intelligence-generated design (AIGD) to address academic challenges, concerns have arisen about the potential dependency risks posed by its improper use.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Effects of tool mediation on tertiary level EFL students’ reading comprehension and vocabulary learning skills: a case for a cloud computing environment

open access: yesCogent Education
Underpinned by constructivist learning theory (Feuerstein’s theory of mediated learning experience) and the cloud computing model, an experiment was conducted to examine the differences between the control and experimental groups regarding the linear ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Towards intelligent web services: the web service modeling ontology (WSMO) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The Semantic Web and the Semantic Web Services build a natural application area for Intelligent Agents, namely querying and reasoning about structured knowledge and semantic descriptions of services and their interfaces on the Web. This paper provides an
