Designing a Knowledge Mapping Tool for Knowledge Workers
2010We discuss design issues of iMapping, a novel approach for visually structuring information objects on the desktop. iMapping provides a user-interface layer on top of semantic desktop technologies which shall especially support personal knowledge management and personal information organization.

By positioning designers and their practices at the centre of design studies, Designing Knowledge merges theory and practice to highlight how knowledge creation can contribute to an expanded and more inclusive design practice. Bringing together a rich variety of perspectives, methods and approaches, and exploring and critiquing current issues in design

Engineering Knowledge Modeling in Design
2010The paper concerns the modeling, acquisition, storage, management and re-using of the engineer’s knowledge. The presented approach is based on the hierarchical structure of design knowledge. Each design domain involves theories, know-how and models which are coherent (on a suitable professional level) and have been developed over many years.

A Framework for Design Knowledge Reuse
Volume 1: 23rd Computers and Information in Engineering Conference, Parts A and B, 2003This paper details a framework for making design knowledge (process and product) available to the product development team by describing architecture and an application prototype for reusing design knowledge. The framework will allow designers to tap into manufacturing methods, engineering principles, company best practices, etc.

Representations of strategic knowledge in design
Knowledge-Based Systems, 1998Abstract This paper is concerned with the purpose and form of representations of strategic knowledge in design. A number of issues concerning the role of representations in design are considered. A distinction is made between representations for describing design and representations for guiding or prescribing design. Issues about the role and form of

Knowledge hubs and knowledge clusters: Designing a knowledge architecture for development [PDF]
With globalisation and knowledge-based production, firms may cooperate on a global scale, outsource parts of their administrative or productive units and negate location altogether. The extremely low transaction costs of data, information and knowledge seem to invalidate the theory of agglomeration and the spatial clustering of firms, going back to the
