Design Of Experiments (DOE) is needed for experiments with real-life systems, and with either deterministic or random simulation models. This contribution discusses the different types of DOE for these three domains, but focusses on random simulation. DOE may have two goals: sensitivity analysis including factor screening and optimization.

Pulsed Flow Turbine Design Recommendations
A preliminary analysis of turbine design, fit for pulsed flow, is proposed in this paper. It focuses on an academic 2D configuration using inviscid flows, since pressure loads due to wave propagation are several orders of magnitude higher than friction ...

Quadrature as applied to computer models for robust design: theoretical and empirical assessment
This paper develops theoretical foundations for extending Gauss–Hermite quadrature to robust design with computer experiments. When the proposed method is applied with m noise variables, the method requires 4m + 1 function evaluations.

Design of the experiment [PDF]
In this paper, we give a short history of our field trial experiment in applied econometrics and outline the aims of the experiment. We discuss features of our experimental design, and judge to what extent our design was successful. The difficulties of such an experiment are acknowledged.

Experimental Investigations of Hole - EDM to Optimize Electrode Wear through Full Factorial of Design of Experiment [PDF]
Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a process where the material removal of the workpiece is achieved through high frequency sparks between the tool (electrode) and the workpiece immersed into the dielectric solution.
