Design principles for a virtual multiprocessor

Proceedings of the 2007 annual research conference of the South African institute of computer scientists and information technologists on IT research in developing countries, 2007
The case for chip multiprocessor (CMP) or multicore designs is strong, and increasingly accepted as evidenced by the growing number of commercial multicore designs. However, there is also some evidence that the quest for instruction-level parallelism, like the Monty Python parrot, is not dead but resting. The cases for CMP and ILP are complementary.

Designing and Creating Virtual-Environments

2009 International Conference on Electrical, Communications, and Computers, 2009
This paper is focused on the Virtual Reality area, where the main objective is to show our project, which allows us to create different virtual environments using one or more screens. We will also describe four applications for our system: The first application uses a remote control for navigating in a virtual world.

Design and Implementation of a Virtual Salesclerk

2009
This paper describes the design and implementation of a virtual agent that is capable of providing customers in a 3D online shop with advice. Based on a product knowledge base, a conversation model and a model of the shop, the agent communicates with the customer through text based dialogues and leads the customer through the virtual world using ...

Virtual Designs

2014
Industrial design is migrating to the virtual world, and the design patent system is migrating with it. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has already granted several thousand design patents on virtual designs, patents that cover the designs of graphical user interfaces for smartphones, tablets, and other products, as well as the designs of ...

MDD for Virtual Organization Design

2010
This paper presents an approach to design a Virtual Organization using MDD (Model Driven Development), in a fast and simple way. This approach employs a meta-model of Virtual Organization which has concepts and components at a suitable level of abstraction so that it can be implemented on different systems. The user will design the system for different

Designing virtual hypertexts with aggregates

1996
This paper presents a new approach based on an extensive use of aggregate structures in hypertexts. We show an original method that induces automatically dynamic aggregates from an unstructured set of nodes. Structures of lists, graphs, trees, partitions and hypergraphs can be generated depending on the properties of the generic relations used among a ...

The Design of Narrative Virtual Environments

1995
The hardware technology for the production of virtual environments (VE) has been available for at least five years, but very few software tools have been developed for this new technology. Existing software tools are very low level, forcing the application developer to use programming to produce most of the application code.

The Design of a Virtual Trailblazing Tool

2009
Trails are a proven means of improving performance in virtual environments (VE) but there is very little understanding or support for the role of the trailblazer. The Use-IT Lab is currently designing a tool, the VTrail System, to support trailblazing in VE's.
