Phycologia, 1977Abstract Staurastrum maraense, a new species of Chlorophyta of the family Desmidiaceae, is described. The cells are large and triradiate, approximately quadrangular in front view, with large granules arranged in regular series. Six minute pores surround each granule. The apical view is triangular with concave sides and rounded angles.
