Mitotic peaks and mitotic time in the desmidiaceae
Archiv f�r Mikrobiologie, 1965In a day having 12 hours each of light and darkness mitotic periodicity has been found in Closterium siliqua and Cosmarium botrytis, there being a peak in the dark period. C. botrytis also has a low back-ground mitotic level at other times. The mitotic time was calculated in Closterium siliqua as follows:

SPECTRIN‐LIKE PROTEINS IN GREEN ALGAE (DESMIDIACEAE)
Cell Biology International, 1999Immunochemical detection of actin as well as spectrin‐like proteins have been carried out in the green algae Micrasterias denticulata, Closterium lunula, and Euastrum oblongum. In these algae, actin is detected on Western blots at 43kDa with antibodies to actin from higher plant and animal origin.

Desmids (Chlorophyta, Desmidiaceae) from Thale Noi (Thailand)
Nordic Journal of Botany, 2000The desmid flora of laguna Thale Noi, a large freshwater lake in the south‐eastern part of Thailand, appeared to be characterized by a high portion of non‐cosmopolitan taxa. Next to a series of pantropical species, quite a lot of Indo‐Malaysian/North Australian flora elements were encountered.

Remarkable desmids (Desmidiaceae, Charophyta) from Sardinia, Italy
Nordic Journal of Botany, 2007A number of benthic microfauna samples collected in Sardinia in the 1970s, and screened for the occurrence of microalgae in the 1990s, revealed some remarkable desmid species. Most of these species could not be found in a series of samples collected in 2006.
