High Health Care Utilization Preceding Diagnosis With Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Although early diagnosis improves long‐term outcomes, patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) often experience prolonged, circuitous paths to diagnosis. To inform diagnostic improvement, we sought to characterize health care utilization in the year preceding diagnosis. Methods We identified 10,021 patients with an incident diagnosis

Leakage Read Fault in Nanoscale SRAM: Analysis, Test and Diagnosis

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we study the impact of leakage currents on the operation of SRAM memories fabricated using nanoscale technologies. We show how the leakage currents, flowing through the pass transistors of unselected cells, may affect the read operation ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Evaluate Brick Units by Ultrasonic Waves

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2005
Wide laboratory search was done to evaluate brick units in single, and test the prisms built from brick unit by use ultrasonic waves in non-destructive test. The results show that the pulse velocity increases with increasing compressive strength and time

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Contributions to accelerated destructive degradation test planning

open access: yes, 2010
Many failure mechanisms can be traced to underlying degradation processes. Degradation eventually leads to a weakness that can cause a failure for products.

Tailored Hierarchical Porous Copper Architectures via Three Dimensional Printing and Pressure‐less Sintering for Next‐Generation Lithium‐Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.

Computed Tomography for Non-destructive Inspection of Hot Structures and TPS Components [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Verifying the quality of a large TPS structure component’s material and therefore providing its flight readiness capability, belongs to one of the most challenging objectives for non-destructive evaluation techniques. Especially when different components
