Extractable and lipopolysaccharide fatty acid and hydroxy acid profiles from Desulfovibrio species.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1985
An analysis of the phospholipid ester-linked and the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) fatty acids and hydroxy fatty acids of six lactate-utilizing Desulfovibrio-type sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) has been performed using capillary gas-liquid chromatography ...

Detection of Sulphate-Reducing Bacteria and Others Cultivable Facultative Bacteria in Dental Tissues

open access: yesActa Stomatologica Croatica, 2014
Aim: To detect for the presence of sulphate-reducing bacteria (SRB) and evaluate the possible association between SRB and cultivable facultative bacterial of oral sites with different periodontal conditions.

Habermann and Pommer (1991) Revisited: Decoding the Mechanism of a Sulfide Storing Microbial Fuel Cell Anode

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 12, Issue 13, July 3, 2025.
This abiotic study elucidates the chemical and electrochemical anode processes within an unconventional, sulfide storing microbial fuel cell, as proposed by Habermann and Pommer in 1991. It analyzes the role of cobalt oxide species in the sulfide storage and oxidation, serving as a foundation of a future utilization of this microbial fuel cell concept.

Characterisation of the Oral Microbiome in Women With Fibromyalgia: An Observational Case–Control Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 29, Issue 6, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Fibromyalgia is a complex disorder, associated with a range of symptoms, not least of which is chronic, widespread pain. Although several reports have brought the role of oral health in systemic diseases into recent focus, the oral microbiome in fibromyalgia is unexplored.

Bioactive Polysaccharides Targeting Gut Microbiota to Modulate Host Health: A Gear Effect Theory

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 6, Issue 4, Page 1604-1616, July 2025.
The “Gear Effect” mechanism of bioactive polysaccharides driving gut microbiota to modulate host health. ABSTRACT Bioactive polysaccharides are macromolecular polymers with broad biological activities. Recent evidence has highlighted their role in modulating host health primarily through interactions with gut microbiota.

Magnetic genes: Studying the genetics of biomineralization in magnetotactic bacteria. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Many species of bacteria can manufacture materials on a finer scale than those that are synthetically made. These products are often produced within intracellular compartments that bear many hallmarks of eukaryotic organelles.

The Role of Gut Microbial Metabolites in Polyphenol‐Mediated Cardiovascular Protection

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 6, Issue 4, Page 1599-1601, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Polyphenols, bioactive compounds found in plant‐based foods, exert cardioprotective effects, partly mediated by their interactions with the gut microbiome. This editorial explores how microbial metabolites of polyphenols enhance bioavailability and exert
