Cobalamin-mediated mercury methylation by Desulfovibrio desulfuricans LS [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1993
The prominence of sulfate reducers in mercury biomethylation prompted the examination of the methyl carrier and mercury methylation activity of Desulfovibrio desulfuricans LS. There was a low degree of mercury tolerance and a high degree of methylation during fermentative growth; the opposite was true during sulfate reduction.

Mercury Uptake by Desulfovibrio desulfuricans ND132: Passive or Active?

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Technology, 2019
Recent studies have identified HgcAB proteins as being responsible for mercury [Hg(II)] methylation by certain anaerobic microorganisms. However, it remains controversial whether microbes take up Hg(II) passively or actively.

Effects of Sulphate‐Reducing Bacteria Mixed‐Species Biofilms on Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2025.
Overview of key reactions for both abiotic and biotic conditions involved in metal corrosion. Abiotic reactions were associated with the hydrogen evolution reaction, as there was a general lack of a corrosion film. Biotic reactions were associated with both EMIC and CMIC. BioRender.com (2024).

Amino acid sequence of rubredoxin from Desulfovibrio desulfuricans strain 27774

open access: yes, 1986
The amino acid sequence of a rubredoxin from Desulfovibrio desulfuricans (strain 27774) has been determined. Comparison with rubredoxins from other species reveals pervasive homology, including the regions known to provide the cysteine ligands to the ...

Cyanophenylalanine as an Infrared Probe for Iron–Sulfur Cluster Redox State in Multicenter Metalloenzymes

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 26, Issue 14, July 18, 2025.
The noncanonical amino acid, cyanophenylalanine, is genetically inserted close to iron–sulfur clusters of either spinach ferredoxin or iron–iron hydrogenase, and functions as an infrared spectroscopic reporter for changes in cluster redox state.
