Detecting Aquaporin Function and Regulation [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2016
Water is the major component of cells and tissues throughout all forms of life. Fluxes of water and solutes through cell membranes and epithelia are essential for osmoregulation and energy homeostasis. Aquaporins are membrane channels expressed in almost every organism and involved in the bidirectional transfer of water and small solutes across cell ...

Detecting function purity in JavaScript [PDF]

open access: yes2015 IEEE 15th International Working Conference on Source Code Analysis and Manipulation (SCAM), 2015
We present an approach to detect function purity in JavaScript. A function is pure if none of its applications cause observable side-effects. The approach is based on a pushdown flow analysis that besides traditional control and value flow also keeps track of write effects.

Impaired large-scale cortico–hippocampal network connectivity, including the anterior temporal and posterior medial systems, and its associations with cognition in patients with first-episode schizophrenia

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2023
Background and objectiveThe cortico–hippocampal network is an emerging neural framework with striking evidence that it supports cognition in humans, especially memory; this network includes the anterior temporal (AT) system, the posterior medial (PM ...

Alternations in Dynamic and Static Functional Connectivity Density in Chronic Smokers

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2022
Previous studies have implicated abnormal functional coordination in brain regions of smokers. Neuroimaging studies demonstrated alternations in brain connectivity by using the resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) method which arbitrarily chooses

Structural and Functional Brain Changes in Patients With Classic Trigeminal Neuralgia: A Combination of Voxel-Based Morphometry and Resting-State Functional MRI Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2022
ObjectivesBrain structural and functional abnormalities have been separately reported in patients with classic trigeminal neuralgia (CTN). However, whether and how the functional deficits are related to the structural alterations remains unclear.

Alterations in static and dynamic regional homogeneity in mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with and without initial precipitating injury

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2023
ObjectivesInitial precipitating injury (IPI) such as febrile convulsion and intracranial infection will increase the susceptibility to epilepsy. It is still unknown if the functional deficits differ between mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with IPI (mTLE ...

More than just statics: Static and temporal dynamic changes in intrinsic brain activity in unilateral temporal lobe epilepsy

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2022
BackgroundTemporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is the most prevalent refractory focal epilepsy and is more likely accompanied by cognitive impairment. The fully understanding of the neuronal activity underlying TLE is of great significance.ObjectiveThis study ...

A Geometric Perspective on Functional Outlier Detection [PDF]

open access: yesStats, 2021
We consider functional outlier detection from a geometric perspective, specifically: for functional datasets drawn from a functional manifold, which is defined by the data’s modes of variation in shape, translation, and phase. Based on this manifold, we developed a conceptualization of functional outlier detection that is more widely applicable and ...

Distance Sampling in R

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2019
Estimating the abundance and spatial distribution of animal and plant populations is essential for conservation and management. We introduce the R package Distance that implements distance sampling methods to estimate abundance. We describe how users can
