Hydrogel-Based Sensors for Ethanol Detection in Alcoholic Beverages

open access: yesSensors, 2019
A fast and reliable determination of the ethanol concentration is essential in the analysis of alcoholic beverages. However, different factors like pH value or salt concentration can influence the ethanol measurement.

A converyor belt-based small article pollution monitoring instrument and performance test

open access: yesHe jishu, 2022
Background At present, most of the contamination detection equipments for small items in domestic nuclear power plants are manually putting in and taking out the testing items, and the operation time is long and the steps are relatively tedious ...

Quantum limits on detection sensitivity of a linear detector with feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We show that the detection sensitivity of a linear detector is lower bounded by some quantum limits. For the force detection, relevant for atomic force microscopes, the lower bound is given by the so-called ultimate quantum limit. For the displacement detection, relevant for detecting gravitational waves, a generalized lower bound is obtained.

Optical spin-wave detection beyond the diffraction limit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Spin waves are proposed as information carriers for next-generation computing devices because of their low power consumption. Moreover, their wave-like nature allows for novel computing paradigms. Conventional methods to detect spin waves are based either on electrical induction, limiting the downscaling and efficiency complicating eventual ...

Detection of amplitude modulation with squeezed light for sensitivity beyond the shot-noise limit [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
An improvement in precision beyond the limit set by the vacuum-state or zero-point fluctuations of the electromagnetic field is reported for the detection of amplitude modulation encoded on a weak signal beam. The improvement is achieved by employing the

Charge Detection in a Closed-Loop Aharonov-Bohm Interferometer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We report on a study of complementarity in a two-terminal "closed-loop" Aharonov-Bohm interferometer. In this interferometer, the simple picture of two-path interference cannot be applied.

Unprecedented Ultralow Detection Limit of Amines using a Thiadiazole-Functionalized Zr(IV)-Based Metal-Organic Framework.

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2019
A luminescent Zr(IV)-based metal-organic framework (MOF), with the underlying fcu topology, encompassing a π-conjugated organic ligand with a thiadiazole functionality, exhibits an unprecedented low detection limit of 66 nM for amines in aqueous solution.

Calculating the Limits of Detection in Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy: Not as Easy as It Might Seem

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The objectives of this paper will be to discuss the issues related to the determination of the limits of detection (LOD) in laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) analytical applications. The derivation of the commonly used ‘3-sigma over slope’ rule

Detection-Response Task—Uses and Limitations [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2018
The Detection-Response Task is a method for assessing the attentional effects of cognitive load in a driving environment. Drivers are presented with a sensory stimulus every 3–5 s, and are asked to respond to it by pressing a button attached to their finger.
