Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tibetan Butter and Indian Ghee: A Review on Their Production and Adulteration

open access: yesAgriculture
Tibetan butter and Indian ghee are both fat products derived from cow’s milk or other dairy products that are rich in nutrients. Although both Tibetan butter and Indian ghee are primarily produced by filtering, heating, separating, cooling, and molding ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Polyphasic identification of preharvest pathologies and disorders in avocado cv. Hass

open access: yesAgronomía Colombiana, 2019
Diseases and disorders are one of the main limitations of avocado crops for export and national markets. However, they are poorly studied in tropical countries such as Colombia. The objective of this research was to evaluate a polyphasic approach for the

Hlaallele Detection Using Molecular Techniques

open access: yesDisease Markers, 1993
There are now many molecular biological techniques available to define HLA class I and class II alleles. Some of these are also applicable to other human polymorphic genes, in particular to those non‐HLA genes encoded within the Mhc. The range of techniques available allows laboratories to choose those most suited to their purpose.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Recent Advances in Detection and Control Strategies for Foodborne Bacteria in Raw and Ready‐to‐Eat Fruits and Vegetables

open access: yesFood Frontiers
The prevalence of foodborne outbreaks due to the consumption of uncooked and ready‐to‐eat fruits and vegetables has seen a noticeable increase, particularly in environments lacking sanitation.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Advances in the detection technology of vegetable soil borne fungi and bacteria

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Soil borne diseases are one of the most serious diseases which often results the decline of vegetables quality and loss of production. Moreover, it is difficult for plants to exhibit disease symptoms in the early stages attributing to strong concealment ...
