Biological functions of 5-methylcytosine RNA-binding proteins and their potential mechanisms in human cancers

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
The 5-methylcytosine (m5C) modification is a crucial epigenetic RNA modification, which is involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of genes. It plays an important role in various biological processes, including cell metabolism, growth, apoptosis,

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Using device detection techniques in M-learning scenarios

open access: yes, 2013
Recent studies of mobile Web trends show the continued explosion of mobile-friend content. However, the wide number and heterogeneity of mobile devices poses several challenges for Web programmers, who want automatic delivery of context and adaptation of

Near field enhancements from angled surface defects : a comparison of scanning laser source and scanning laser detection techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Enhancement of the Rayleigh wave signal amplitude at a surface defect, due to interference of incident, reflected and mode converted waves, has been reported by several authors, and it has been suggested that this could be used as a fingerprint of the ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A REVIEW ON TEXT DETECTION TECHNIQUES

open access: yesJurnal Teknologi, 2015
Text detection in image is an important field. Reading text in image is challenging because of the variations in images. Text detection in images is useful for many navigational purposes e.g. text on google API’s and traffic panels etc. This paper analyzes the work done on text detection by many researchers and critically evaluates the techniques ...

Signal Injection as a Fault Detection Technique [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2011
Double frequency tests are used for evaluating stator windings and analyzing the temperature. Likewise, signal injection on induction machines is used on sensorless motor control fields to find out the rotor position. Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA), which focuses on the spectral analysis of stator current, is the most widely used method for ...
