Detecting Cartoons: Automatic Video Genre Classification
2010 International Conference on Management and Service Science, 2010This article shows the improvement of automatic cartoon classification. Two new visual features - color component and color kind based on region segmentation - are proposed. Compared to traditional HSV color histogram and texture, experiment using the two new features can achieve better result, with less dimensions and higher mining efficiency.

Automatic Genre Detection of Web Documents
2005A genre or a style is another view of documents different from a subject or a topic. The genre is also a criterion to classify the documents. There have been several studies on detecting a genre of textual documents. However, only a few of them dealt with web documents. In this paper we suggest sets of features to detect genres of web documents.

The detection genre can be seen as a synonym for the more often-used term of the ‘detective film.’ But, since “for many people the term “detective” can evoke ideas of the classical sleuth rather than necessarily other kinds of investigate protagonists” (Gates 2011: 7), the more neutral term ‘detection’ indicates that traces of the genre can be found in

Defining Detection: The Detective Genre
2016This chapter frames the analysis of the American television detective drama through genre. It will first give an outline of the relationship between the crime genre and the detective genre, and will then move on to discuss two of the detective genre’s sub-genres: the ‘genius’ detective genre and the police procedural.

Genre-Adaptive Near-Duplicate Video Segment Detection
Multimedia and Expo, 2007 IEEE International Conference on, 2007This paper proposes a fast and accurate method to detect all near-duplicate segments in a video stream. To reduce the computation time while ensuring the detection accuracy equivalent to that by brute-force frame-by-frame comparison, a two-step detection method is proposed; a fast but rough detection applied in a compressed feature vector space spanned

A Survey Paper on Movie Trailer Genre Detection
2020 International Conference on Computing and Data Science (CDS), 2020Like a lot of movies are being made and their trailer videos are being uploaded on the internet and there are different types of algorithms and models that are used in detecting the genre of the movie genre. Here we have tried to implement the model and compare it with other models and suggest which model is better to implement.

Video genre detection using a multimodality approach
Proceedings of the 19th ACM international conference on Multimedia, 2011In this abstract, we introduce the idea of our new multimodality approach towards video genre detection. The two novelties of this algorithm are that firstly it is based on identifying relationships between semantic concepts and genres in videos, which can later help in distinguishing videos in different genres.

Scalable Video Genre Classification and Event Detection
2014This chapter focuses on a systematic and generic approach which is experimented on scalable video genre classification and event detection. The system aims at the event detection scenario of an input video with an orderly sequential process. Initially, domain-knowledge independent local descriptors are extracted homogeneously from the input video ...

Group Anomaly Detection using Flexible Genre Models
2011An important task in exploring and analyzing real-world data sets is to detect unusual and interesting phenomena. In this paper, we study the group anomaly detection problem. Unlike traditional anomaly detection research that focuses on data points, our goal is to discover anomalous aggregated behaviors of groups of points. For this purpose, we propose
