Cholesterol Laundry of Cell Membrane and Fatty Liver by Detergent Liposomes to Improve Anti‐Cancer Drug Responsiveness of Patient Liver Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cholesterol‐enriched plasma membranes in hepatocellular carcinoma impede drug penetration. Cholesterol (+)‐liposomes act as membrane‐specific detergents, extracting cholesterol and reducing barrier function without cytotoxicity. Following endocytosis, cholesterol transfers from endosomes to liposomes and is metabolized in the ER.

RNA‐Binding Protein RBM25 Targets the mRNA Stability of GTPase Rab22a to Restrict Viral Entry and Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies RNA‐binding protein RBM25 as a broad‐spectrum antiviral factor acting independently of type I interferon. It blocks viral entry by suppressing GTPase Rab22a via the RC3H1‐mediated destabilization of Rab22a mRNA. Viral downregulation of RBM25 enhances GTPase Rab22a expression and viral entry, revealing an unreported post ...

Functional Suppression of SCAP Triggers Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress‐Dependent Ferroptosis by Impairing Cholesterol Metabolism in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a novel GC therapy targeting cholesterol homeostasis. Inhibiting the SCAP sterol‐sensing domain causes lethal ER stress via cholesterol accumulation, paradoxically forcing continuous synthesis that triggers ferroptosis. The findings link sterol sensing, metabolic dysregulation, and ferroptosis, establishing an anti‐cancer paradigm ...

Biodegradable Acoustic Targeting for Ultrasound‐Supported Gene Therapy (BATUS) in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glioblastoma (GBM) remains one of the most challenging brain malignancies due to the restrictive nature of the blood–brain barrier (BBB), which severely limits effective drug and gene delivery. To overcome this, we introduce Biodegradable Acoustic Targeting for Ultrasound‐Supported Gene Therapy (BATUS), a modular platform that enables safe ...

Pendant-bearing detergents: strategies and membrane protein stabilization

open access: yes
Membrane proteins (MPs) are vital to many biological processes, making their atomic-level structures essential for drug discovery. Detergent micelles are commonly used in MP research, from extraction, purification, and structure determination.

EVOLUTION OF DETERGENTS IN WASTEWATER AND SLUDGE FROM REFINING INDUSTRY OF VEGETABLE OILS AND THEIR ABATEMENT BY COMPOSTING / EVOLUTION DES DETERGENTS DANS LES EAUX USEES ET LES BOUES D’INDUSTRIE DE RAFFINAGE DES HUILES VEGETALES, ET LEUR ABATTEMENT PAR COMPOSTAGE

open access: yesScientific Study & Research: Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Industry, 2018
This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in removing detergents from Moroccan edible oils unit. The produced sludge was composted with straw and green waste (5:4:1 v/v/v), the mixture allows a dilution of

MAM‐Localized MANF Counteracts Microinflammatory Stress to Attenuate Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Cataractogenesis in High Myopia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic microinflammation in high myopia suppresses MANF in lens epithelial cells. MANF normally resides within MAMs and promotes ubiquitin‐mediated degradation of the ER Ca2+ pump SERCA2. MANF loss causes pathological SERCA2 accumulation, MAM hyperassembly, and disrupted ER‐to‐mitochondria Ca2+ transfer, leading to mitochondrial failure, oxidative ...
