Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

CKM Sides: Theory

open access: yes, 2004
We review the theory of the determination of the CKM elements Vcb and Vub. Particular attention is paid to the determination of Vcb through inclusive semileptonic B decays to charm using a moment analysis, since this has shown most progress recently.

Theory of the endpoint region of exclusive rare B decays

open access: yes, 2004
In the ratio of ratios of rates for radiative and semileptonic decays of B and D to K* and rho mesons the non-computable form factors mostly cancel out. The resulting method for the determination of Vub is largely free of hadronic uncertainties, raising ...

A Modified Method for Determination of Uropepsin

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1959
Abstract The incorrect high values in the determination of uropepsin results from the color of the original specimen. Evidently incubation changes other substances that are present in the urine and then react with the reagent or otherwise add to the absorbance at the determination wavelength.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

A micromethod for the determination of arginine [PDF]

open access: yes, 1941
Micromethods for the determination of arginine based on the use of the Sakaguchi reagent have been described (14). This reagent gives a strong color with glycocyamine, arginine, and other monosubstituted guanidine derivatives.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

A Pan-Spectral Method of Abundance Determination

open access: yes, 2007
We propose a new method for determination of element abundances in stellar atmospheres aimed for the automatic processing of high-quality stellar spectra.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
