Anti‐Counterfeiting Tags with Camouflaged QR Codes on Nanocavities, Using Polymer‐Dispersed Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A QR code, printed through a commercial printer on a thin plastic foil, pre‐coated with a nanocavity is proposed as an anti‐counterfeiting label. Nanocavity imparts distinctive optical properties in terms of light reflection and transmission. A thin layer of polymer‐dispersed liquid crystals (PDLC) is used to camouflage the QR code, that become ...

HOW THE EGYPTIANS DETERMINED WORDS? (ALONG WITH THE DETERMINERS AND DETERMINATIVES) [PDF]

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Archaeological and Restoration Studies, 2015
There are several ways which are used to determine words, in ancient Egypt; thedeterminatives and the determiners (Demonstrative determiners/ demonstrative pronouns)are the most common ways, also the adjectives (and adjective’s equivalents), genitives(Direct and indirect), apposition, and finally the sentences (Verbal, non-verbal).

Hybrid Electroluminescence Device for On‐Demand Single Photon Generation at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
New type of electroluminescent device based on hBN nanocrystals deposited on a GaN laser diode displays electrically driven emission of single photons at room temperature. Low g2(0) autocorrelation function values are achieved of < 0.2 for continuous driving and < 0.4 for on‐demand single‐photon emission.

Ordinary wrongdoing and responsibility worth wanting

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Analytic Philosophy, 2005
In this paper it is argued that we can have defensible attributions of responsibility without first answering the question whether determinism and free will are compatible.

Angle‐ and Polarization‐Tolerant Metasurface Designs Based on the Aperiodic Tiling

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A novel aperiodic metasurface design is introduced to mitigate the inherent angle and polarization sensitivity of conventional metasurfaces. By employing a recently discovered aperiodic tiling approach, identical elliptical scatterers are arranged with systematic variations in their spacing and orientation, effectively minimizing spectral reflectance ...
