Deterministic methods of flexibiility analysis

Computers & Chemical Engineering, 1999
Abstract In this paper, we consider the solution of process optimization models under uncertainty (two-step optimization or TSOP). We note that the design variables found by solving the TSOP can guarantee the flexibility of chemical processes only if the solution corresponds to a global minimum.

A deterministic method for initializing K-means clustering

16th IEEE International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence, 2005
The performance of K-means clustering depends on the initial guess of partition. We motivate theoretically and experimentally the use of a deterministic divisive hierarchical method, which we refer to as PCA-Part (principal components analysis partitioning) for initialization.

A Novel Deterministic Multi-agent Solving Method

2015 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 2015
In order to analyze the dynamics of the particle of the particle swarm optimization (abbr. PSO) rigorously, we proposed a canonical deterministic PSO (abbr. CD-PSO). The CD-PSO can be described a quite simple equation, and it is very easy to analyze the dynamics.

Deterministic sampling methods for spheres and SO(3)

IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2004. Proceedings. ICRA '04. 2004, 2004
This paper addresses the problem of generating uniform deterministic samples over the spheres and the three-dimensional rotation group, SO(3). The target applications include motion planning, optimization, and verification problems in robotics and in related areas, such as graphics, control theory and computational biology.

Methods for generating deterministic fractals and image compression

1990
We survey recently developed methods for generating deterministic fractals that have the potential for compression of arbitrary (practical) images. They are the Iterative Function Systems developed by Barnsley, the probabilistic finite generators, and probabilistic mutually recursive systems that generalize both former methods. We briefly introduce the

Deterministic Method for the Prediction of Time Series

2016
The business analyst is frequently forced to make decision using data on a certain business process obtained within a short time interval. Under these conditions, the analyst is not in a position to use traditional statistical methods and should be satisfied with experimental samples that are few in number.

A comparison of deterministic and probabilistic methods for indoor localization

Journal of Systems and Software, 2011
Received signal strength indication fingerprinting (RSSIF) is an indoor localization technique that exploits the prevalence of wireless local area networks (WLANs). Past research into RSSIF systems has seen the development of a number of algorithmic methods that provide effective indoor positioning. A key limitation, however, is that the performance of

Sampling and Deterministic Modeling Methods

2016
Prior to any earth sciences modeling, the basic data quality, reliability, and sufficiency are the basic questions that must be grasped by the specialists in the earth sciences domain so that she/he can continue for better description and modeling of the phenomenon concerned.
