Deterministic methods of flexibiility analysis
Computers & Chemical Engineering, 1999Abstract In this paper, we consider the solution of process optimization models under uncertainty (two-step optimization or TSOP). We note that the design variables found by solving the TSOP can guarantee the flexibility of chemical processes only if the solution corresponds to a global minimum.

Pricing futures by deterministic methods
Acta Numerica, 2012In this article we will focus on only a small part of financial mathematics, namely the use of partial differential equations for pricing futures. Even within this narrow range it is hard to be systematic and complete, or even to do better than existing books such as Wilmott, Howison and Dewynne (1995), Achdou and Pironneau (2005), or software manuals ...

A Deterministic Method for Haplotype Inference
2007 Conference Record of the Forty-First Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2007Haplotypes are widely used in the analysis of relationship between genetics and diseases. Due to the cost of obtaining exact haplotype pairs, genotypes which contain the un-phased information corresponding to the haplotype pairs in the test subjects are used. Various haplotype inference algorithms have been proposed to resolve the un-phased information.

Deterministic Search Methods for Computational Protein Design
2016One main challenge in Computational Protein Design (CPD) lies in the exploration of the amino-acid sequence space, while considering, to some extent, side chain flexibility. The exorbitant size of the search space urges for the development of efficient exact deterministic search methods enabling identification of low-energy sequence-conformation models,

A deterministic method for initializing K-means clustering
16th IEEE International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence, 2005The performance of K-means clustering depends on the initial guess of partition. We motivate theoretically and experimentally the use of a deterministic divisive hierarchical method, which we refer to as PCA-Part (principal components analysis partitioning) for initialization.

A Novel Deterministic Multi-agent Solving Method
2015 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 2015In order to analyze the dynamics of the particle of the particle swarm optimization (abbr. PSO) rigorously, we proposed a canonical deterministic PSO (abbr. CD-PSO). The CD-PSO can be described a quite simple equation, and it is very easy to analyze the dynamics.

Deterministic sampling methods for spheres and SO(3)
IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2004. Proceedings. ICRA '04. 2004, 2004This paper addresses the problem of generating uniform deterministic samples over the spheres and the three-dimensional rotation group, SO(3). The target applications include motion planning, optimization, and verification problems in robotics and in related areas, such as graphics, control theory and computational biology.

Deterministic Method for the Prediction of Time Series
2016The business analyst is frequently forced to make decision using data on a certain business process obtained within a short time interval. Under these conditions, the analyst is not in a position to use traditional statistical methods and should be satisfied with experimental samples that are few in number.
