Bacterioplankton Richness and Composition in a Seasonal Urban River

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2021
Urbanization and seasonality strongly influence the bacterial composition of the soil. However, aquatic environments such as rivers are understudied owing to their high dynamics and therefore rules relating to more static habitats such as lentic or ...

Testing the Marketing Performance of German Wheat Farmers

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper analyses the marketing performance of wheat farmers in Germany. Wheat sales data from 465 individual farms over a 12‐year period are used to test against different market benchmarks. Market benchmarks are constructed by simulating passive trading agents using regional wheat prices.

Non-seasonal and seasonal relapse model for Q fever disease with comprehensive cost-effectiveness analysis

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2021
Q fever (query fever) is classified as one of the likely zoonosis that is transmissible to humans from farm animals. The disease may lead to significant economic losses to livestock owners.

Deterministic decomposition and seasonal ARIMA time series models applied to airport noise forecasting [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2017
One of the most hazardous physical polluting agents, considering their effects on human health, is acoustical noise. Airports are a strong source of acoustical noise, due to the airplanes turbines, to the aero-dynamical noise of transits, to the acceleration or the breaking during the take-off and landing phases of aircrafts, to the road traffic around

Consumer Preferences for Craft Beer: The Interplay of Localness and Advertising Language

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explores the influence of the language of the label, origin of production, and origin of brewing ingredients on Croatian consumers' preferences and willingness to pay for organic craft beer. Employing an online survey and a choice experiment among 223 Croatian alcohol consumers, we find that while there's a willingness to pay a ...

Graph‐based imitation and reinforcement learning for efficient Benders decomposition

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This work introduces an end‐to‐end graph‐based agent for accelerating the computational efficiency of Benders Decomposition. The agent's policy is parameterized by a graph neural network, which takes as input a bipartite graph representation of the master problem and proposes a candidate solution.

Stochastic effects in a seasonally forced epidemic model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The interplay of seasonality, the system's nonlinearities and intrinsic stochasticity is studied for a seasonally forced susceptible-exposed-infective-recovered stochastic model. The model is explored in the parameter region that corresponds to childhood

A Geomorphometric Approach to Estimate the Deterioration of Earthen Archaeological Sites by Rainfall and Diffusion Processes: The Huaca Chornancap (Eighth–14th Century ad), Lambayeque, Peru

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rain‐induced erosion processes can severely damage Earthen archaeological sites. Huaca Chornancap (HCH; eighth–14th century ad) is a platform located in the Lambayeque region (Peru) exposed to seasonal rain due to El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO).

Testing for seasonal unit roots in Brazilian monetary series

open access: yesEconomia Aplicada, 2002
The objective of this paper is to study the time series properties ofseveral Brazilian monthly monetary series. The test procedures proposed by Beaulieu and Miron (1993) are applied to determine the presence of unit roots at the zero frequency as well ...

Country macroeconomic indicators modeling features

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2021
Economic time series have repeatable or non-repeatable fluctuation. A pattern of a time series, which repeats at regular intervals every year, same direction, and similar magnitude is defined as seasonality.
