Kinetic modeling of detonation and effects of negative temperature coefficient

open access: yes, 2016
The kinetic modeling and simulation of reactive flows, especially for those with detonation, are further investigated. From the theoretical side, a new set of hydrodynamic equations are deduced, where the viscous stress tensor and heat flux are replaced ...

Laser Engineering of HfN‐Based Nanoparticles for Safe NIR‐I Photothermal and X‐ray Enhancing Cancer Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we produced HfN‐based nanoparticles via femtosecond laser ablation in acetone. The nanoparticles exhibit a red‐shifted plasmonic resonance in the NIR‐I window, colloidal stability after coating with polyethyleneglycol, and excellent biocompatibility. The photothermal and X‐ray sensitization therapeutic effects were demonstrated for tumor

Construction and Application of an AMR Algorithm for Distributed Memory Computers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
While the parallelization of blockstructured adaptive mesh refinement techniques is relatively straight-forward on shared memory architectures, appropriate distribution strategies for the emerging generation of distributed memory machines are a topic of ...

Customizable Fabrication of 2D and Conformal Multielectrode Arrays for 3D Printed Organotypic Bioelectronic Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aerosol jet printing enables rapid, customizable fabrication of flexible, fully gold multi‐electrode arrays (MEAs) for organotypic bioelectronic interfaces. The printed MEAs exhibit stable electrochemical performance, cytocompatibility, and functionality in recording and stimulation, including integration with 3D‐printed constructs.

Ignition of Deflagration and Detonation Ahead of the Flame due to Radiative Preheating of Suspended Micro Particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We study a flame propagating in the gaseous combustible mixture with suspended inert particles. The gas is assumed to be transparent for the radiation emitted by the combustion products, while particles absorb and re-emit the radiation. Thermal radiation

Linear stability analysis of detonations via numerical computation and dynamic mode decomposition

open access: yes, 2017
We introduce a new method to investigate linear stability of gaseous detonations that is based on an accurate shock-fitting numerical integration of the linearized reactive Euler equations with a subsequent analysis of the computed solution via the ...

Skin‐Interfaced Therapeutic Patches for Wound Fluid Management and Transdermal Drug Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents an integrated skin‐interfaced device combining microfluidics, hydrogel film technology, flexible electronics, and iontophoresis‐based transdermal delivery of PDRN to enhance wound healing. The device effectively manages wound fluid, maintains optimal moisture, and non‐invasively delivers therapeutic drugs.

Anthropogenic Space Weather

open access: yes, 2017
Anthropogenic effects on the space environment started in the late 19th century and reached their peak in the 1960s when high-altitude nuclear explosions were carried out by the USA and the Soviet Union.

Real‐Time 3D Ultrasound Imaging with an Ultra‐Sparse, Low Power Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a novel, ultra‐sparse ultrasound architecture that paves the way for wearable real‐time 3D imaging. By integrating a unique convolutional array with chirped data acquisition, the system achieves high‐resolution volumetric scans at a fraction of the power and hardware complexity.
