Swyer syndrome with heterotopic adrenal cortical tissue in streak gonads: A rare case and review of literature

open access: yesJournal of Human Reproductive Sciences, 2019
Swyer syndrome is a 46 XY pure gonadal dysgenesis. Affected individuals are phenotypically female with external female genitalia, hypoplastic Mullerian structures, and the presence of streak gonads.

Clinical observation of gonadal dysgenesis with surgical correction

open access: yesРепродуктивная эндокринология, 2022
Anomalies of sexual development, despite their low prevalence, are relevant both due to the rapid expansion of diagnostic capabilities at the genetic and genetic levels, and due to increasing attention to the social adaptation of such patients.

Continuous reproduction of Sinanodonta woodiana (Lea,1824) females : an invasive mussel species in a female-biased population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The reproductive activity of females of the Chinese pond mussel (Sinanodonta woodiana) was investigated in a European population inhabiting cooling water.

Peripheral and central mechanisms involved in hormonal control of male and female reproduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Reproduction involves the integration of hormonal signals acting across multiple systems togenerate a synchronized physiological output. A critical component of reproduction is the luteinizinghormone (LH) surge, which is mediated by estradiol (E2) and ...

Evaluation of the Dual Impact of Nanotechnologies on Health and Environment Through Alternative Bridging Models

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores how alternative invertebrate and small‐vertebrate models advance the evaluation of nanomaterials across medicine and environmental science. By bridging cellular and organismal levels, these models enable integrated assessment of toxicity, biodistribution, and therapeutic performance.

Sex determination in mythology and history [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The history of ideas on how the sexes became divided spans at least three thousand years. The biblical account of the origin of Eve, and the opinions of the philosophers of classical Greece, have unexpected bearings on present-day ideas.

A Biomarker‐Driven Ovary–Endometrium Organ‐on‐a‐Chip Mimicking 3D Multicellular Complexity and Menstrual Cyclicity for Predicting Reproductive Toxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a dual‐organ, biomarker‐integrated ovaryendometrium organ‐on‐a‐chip that recapitulates 3D tissue complexity, menstrual cycle dynamics, and hormonal crosstalk. This platform enables real‐time, cell‐typespecific fluorescent readouts of reproductive toxicity using ANGPTL4 and SERPINB2 as early‐response reporters.

Disorders of sex development (DSD): an overview of recent scientific advances [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Developments in biotechnology have radically altered clinical and research themes in the small field of disorders of sex development, as in other rare medical conditions. In the age of genetics, an increasing number of DSDs have been identified. Aided by

Organ‐Specific and Conserved Regulatory Logic Orchestrates Gene Expression in the Embryonic Mesothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrated multi‐omic profiling maps the gene‐regulatory landscape of the coelomic mesothelium across heart, lung, and pancreas. A cardiac‐restricted regulatory program is uncovered in which TBX20 activates heart mesothelial (epicardial) cis‐regulatory elements, while MAF emerges as a conserved regulator of mesothelial identity.
