Protocol for identifying protein synthesis activity in specific cell types of the testicular lumen

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: Protein synthesis could control spermatogenic cell fate transitions. Here, we present a protocol for visualization and quantification of newly synthesized proteins by click-chemistry-based immunofluorescence within specific spermatogenic cell ...

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Visualizing the translational activation of a particular mRNA in zebrafish embryos using in situ hybridization and proximity ligation assay

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: Fertilized eggs initiate translation of stored mRNAs in spatially and temporally controlled manners. Here, we present a protocol for visualizing spatial and temporal translation in zebrafish embryos by fluorescence in situ hybridization and ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.
