Bacterial Communities in the Feces of Laboratory Reared Gampsocleis gratiosa (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) across Different Developmental Stages and Sexes

open access: yesInsects, 2022
We used Illumina sequencing of the 16S rDNA V3-V4 region to identify the bacterial community in laboratory-reared G. gratiosa feces across different developmental stages (1st–7th instar nymph day 0, and 0-, 7-, 14-, and 21-day adult) and sexes. In total,

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Young duplicate genes show developmental stage- and cell type-specific expression and function in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesCell Genomics
Summary: Gene duplication produces the material that fuels evolutionary innovation. The “out-of-testis” hypothesis suggests that sperm competition creates selective pressure encouraging the emergence of new genes in male germline, but the somatic ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Integrated Transcriptomic and Metabolomic Analyses Implicate Key Genes and Metabolic Pathways in Maize Lodging Resistance

open access: yesAgriculture
Maize stalk lodging causes substantial yield losses worldwide. Although stalk strength is a genetically determined trait, its molecular mechanisms—particularly the dynamic changes during key developmental stages—remain inadequately characterized due to ...

Developmental stages in the Digenea

open access: yesParasitology, 1964
The naturally oviposited egg ofDasymetra confertais fully embryonated and it hatches only after it is ingested by the snail host,Physaspp.Hatching appears to be in response to some stimulus supplied by the living snail. The stimulus causes the larva to exercise a characteristic series of body movements and to liberate a granular sustance (hatching ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
