Mechanical properties and strength prediction model of anchored rock-mortar structural plane under triaxial compression

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
The rock wall-concrete shotcrete layer, which is supported by anchor and shotcrete in a mining environment, represents a typical example of an anisotropic structural plane anchored by rock mortar.

Permeability of granite from a shallow buried mountain pipe gallery tunnel under unloading confining pressure

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Triaxial compression tests under unloading confining pressure conditions were conducted to systematically analyze the permeability behavior of granite retrieved from the different classification surrounding rocks. Abstract The rock mass within mountain tunnels undergoes complex changes in permeability, strength, and deformation during tunneling ...

Rock mechanical properties under reconstructed deep in situ thermo–hydro–mechanical conditions: Implications for CO₂‐related injection scenarios

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract illustrates a reconstructed in situ thermo‐hydro‐mechanical (THM) framework in which porosity serves as the central variable linking stress, pore pressure, and temperature to evolving mechanical properties of rocks. Under burial conditions, in situ stress, pore pressure, and temperature jointly govern volumetric strain and ...

Positive-negative shear asymmetry and anisotropy of a textured rolled plate of AZ31B Mg alloy under simple shear

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys
Mg alloy often undergoes shear deformation during industrial processing. While its anisotropy and tension-compression asymmetry have been thoroughly studied under uniaxial loading, the understanding for shear loading is still lacking. This study employed

Investigation on the failure evolution characteristics of surrounding rock in deep cross‐fault roadway: Based on physical model test and numerical simulation

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study reveals the failure evolution characteristics of deep cross‐fault roadway surrounding rock under excavation support and periodic weighting. Periodic weighting readily induces fault activation, with the spatial distribution of failed rock masses being controlled by the fault strike and dip.

Stability Evaluation and Parametric Optimization of Coal‐Concrete Composite Bearing Systems Under Mine‐Water‐Induced Deterioration: Experiments and FEINN Analysis

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Mine‐water immersion tests reveal pronounced coal weakening (vs. minor concrete degradation), identifying coal pillars as the stability‐limiting component in composite dams. A coupled FEINN framework quantifies extreme‐pressure stability and ranks multi‐parameter designs via a normalized multi‐indicator scheme, enabling optimized dam configuration for ...

Experimental study on critical state of unsaturated silty sand

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2018
The critical state of soil shows the end of its deformation process, which is very important for analysis and establishment of constitutive model for soil. The unsaturated silty sand is used in this study.

Anisotropic Initial Damage and Its Effect on Tensile Response of Plain Concrete

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Damage is often described as isotropic, implying that a scalar value describes its initial state. However, the prior micro‐cracking pattern at points of an existing building, that is, the initial damage, may be oriented by a preload. The degradation of the Volume Element due to oriented preloads shall be described as anisotropic and ...

Mechanical models to estimate the paleostress state from igneous intrusions [PDF]

open access: yesSolid Earth, 2018
Dikes and sills represent an important component of the deformation history in volcanic systems, but unlike dikes, sills are typically omitted from traditional paleostress analyses in tectonic studies.

Polymaterial Lattice Discrete Particle Model for the Optimization of Lightweight Aggregate Concrete: Intragranular Fracture and Compression Behavior

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC) offers clear advantages for sustainable construction, including reduced density and improved thermal insulation. However, its mechanical and fracture behavior is difficult to characterize due to the heterogeneity and brittle crushing of porous lightweight aggregates.
