Influence of the diene monomer on devulcanization of EPDM rubber

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2008
AbstractEthylene–propylene–diene rubbers (EPDM) with 2‐ethylidene‐5‐norbornene (ENB), dicyclopentadiene (DCPD), and 1,4‐hexadiene (HD) as third monomers have been vulcanized with peroxide and with a conventional sulfur vulcanization recipe, and their devulcanization was subsequently investigated for recycling purposes.

Devulcanization of nitrile butadiene rubber in nitrobenzene

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2004
AbstractSulfur‐crosslinked nitrile butadiene rubber (s‐NBR) was found to be devulcanized when it was heated with nitrobenzene at 200°C for 3 h. The tetrahydrofuran (THF)‐soluble fraction from s‐NBR heated with nitrobenzene was purified by reprecipitation with THF/n‐hexane, chloroform/n‐hexane, and THF/n‐hexane systems and was then characterized by ...

Mechanochemical devulcanization and gamma irradiation of devulcanized waste rubber/high density polyethylene thermoplastic elastomer

Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry, 2013
Abstract Waste rubber (WR) powder was introduced in a two-roll mill in the presence of various ratios of curatives to develop sheets of devulcanized waste rubber (DWR). The product has been investigated by FTIR, TGA and SEM. A thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) was prepared by blending the obtained DWR with high density polyethylene (HDPE) at different ...

Effect of the Devulcanizing Agent Content and Temperature on the Devulcanization Grade of Ground Tire Rubber by Microwave

Journal of Applied Polymer Science
ABSTRACT The effect of the reaction medium and process conditions on the modification of ground tire rubber (GTR) was studied. For this, a polar reaction medium (ethylene glycol) and a nonpolar medium (1‐octadecene) were compared, using hexadecylamine as a devulcanizing agent in a microwave reactor.
