PALAEO‐EXPOSURE SURFACES IN CENOMANIAN – SANTONIAN CARBONATE RESERVOIRS IN THE DEZFUL EMBAYMENT, SW IRAN

Journal of Petroleum Geology, 2013
Cretaceous carbonates host major hydrocarbon reserves in SW Iran and elsewhere in the Arabian Plate. Tectonic activity combined with eustatic sea‐level changes resulted in periodic exposure of these carbonates which were subsequently modified by meteoric diagenesis under a warm and humid climate.

Structural interpretation of east Dezful Embayment in Zagros fold-thrust belt by seismic sections

International Geophysical Conference and Oil & Gas Exhibition, Istanbul, Turkey, 17-19 September 2012, 2012
Summary The Pazanan oil field is located 150 km SE of Ahvaz city in SW of Iran and measures 60 km long, 4-6 km wide. Geologically it is located in the south western par t of the Zagros fold-and-thrust belt in Dezful Embayment. The kinematic scenario for folding in central Zagros wa s drawn in several parts by some authors.

Spectral and geochemical characterization of onshore hydrocarbon seep-induced alteration in the Dezful embayment, southwest Iran

AAPG Bulletin, 2014
The presence of hydrocarbon seeps at the surface is indirect evidence of the presence of mature source rocks within a geological system at depth. Chemical changes in the environment of surface rocks caused by hydrocarbon seeps cause mineralogical alterations.

THE ORIGIN OF DOLOMITE IN THE ASMARI FORMATION (OLIGOCENE‐LOWER MIOCENE), DEZFUL EMBAYMENT, SW IRAN

Journal of Petroleum Geology, 2006
Dolomitisation is an important factor controlling reservoir quality in the Asmari Formation in many producing fields in SW Iran. Dolostones have higher average porosities than limestones. Petrographic and geochemical studies have been used to determine the causes of Asmari dolomitisation at the Bibi Hakimeh and Marun fields and at the Khaviz anticline.

A Geological Model Based on an Integrated Geophysical Study in the Dezful Embayment SW Iran

61st EAGE Conference and Exhibition, 1999
Dezful Embayment area is one of the most important oil province which is located in the SW of Iran. The first well drilled in SW Iran was in 1907 near oil seepage's in the vicinity of the village of Mamatain. Mamatain is a structure situated close to the main mountain ranges.

Sedimentary environments and sequence stratigraphy of the Asmari Formation, northwest of Dezful Embayment, SW Iran

GEO 2008, 2008
The Oligocene-Miocene Asmari Formation is the most productive reservoir in the folded belt of the Zagros Basin, in southwestern Iran. In the study area, it is of Early Miocene age, and composed mainly of limestone, dolomite, sandstone, anhydrite, siltstone and shale.

Structural pattern of the Zagros fold-and-thrust belt in the Dezful Embayment (SW Iran)

2006
The structural style of the southeastern region of the Dezful Embayment (Zagros fold-and-thrust belt) was defined through the interpretation of satellite images, field surveys, well stratigraphy, and magneto-telluric and seismic profiles. The compressional setting of the area derives from the last phases of Cenozoic continental collision between the ...

THE INFLUENCE OF TECTONICS ON THE ENTRAPMENT OF OIL IN THE DEZFUL EMBAYMENT, ZAGROS FOLDBELT, IRAN

Journal of Petroleum Geology, 2005
The timing of the orogenic events associated with the closure of South Tethys significantly influenced the generation, migration and entrapment of petroleum in the Zagros Foldbelt of Iran. This influence was particularly important in the Dezful Embayment, which is one of the world's richest oil provinces, containing some 8% of global oil reserves in an

Tectonic constraints for hydrocarbon targets in the Dezful Embayment, Zagros Fold and Thrust Belt, SW Iran

Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 2017
Abstract Understanding of reservoir architecture is one of the most important steps in the petroleum exploration programs. New 2D/3D seismic data provided important insights into the tectonic evolution of the Dalpari prospect within the Dezful Embayment of the Zagros Fold and Thrust Belt, SW Iran.

An integrated reservoir zonation in sequence stratigraphic framework: A case from the Dezful Embayment, Zagros, Iran

Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 2017
Abstract This study focuses on reservoir rock typing of the Oligo-Miocene Asmari Formation in order to introduce a field-scaled reservoir zonation for the strata in one petroleum field of SW Iran, where the formation is composed of mixed marginal marine sand/sandstones and shallow marine carbonates, capped by the evaporite-bearing Gachsaran Formation.
