Comparison of DFIG and SEF-DFIG operation in wind turbine systems

2015 16th International Conference on Computational Problems of Electrical Engineering (CPEE), 2015
Recently, the idea of a variable speed wind turbine equipped with doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) has obtained great regard because of its considerable superiority over other wind turbine generators. New configuration of DFIG is single external feeding of DFIG (SEF-DFIG) where a rotor side converter (RSC) is set instead of the back to back ...

Low voltage ride-through of DFIG and brushless DFIG: Similarities and differences

Electric Power Systems Research, 2014
The brushless doubly fed induction generator (BDFIG) has been proposed as a viable alternative in wind turbines to the commonly used doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). The BDFIG retains the benefits of the DFIG, i.e. variable speed operation with a partially rated converter, but without the use of brush gear and slip rings, thereby conferring ...

Damping DFIG-associated SSR by adding subsynchronous suppression filters to DFIG converter controllers

2016 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting (PESGM), 2016
Subsynchronous resonance (SSR) issue, namely subsynchronous control interaction (SSCI), was observed in doubly-fed induction generators (DFIGs) based wind farms connected to fixed series compensation. This paper proposes a novel scheme to deactivate SSR by adding subsynchronous suppression filters (SSFs) to DFIG converter controllers.

Blackstart of DFIG-based Windfarm

2019 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting (PESGM), 2019
Increased penetration of DFIG-based windfarms demand their use not only in normal operating conditions but also in restorative conditions, if wind is forecasted to be available. This paper explores the possibility of starting DFIG-based windfarms in preparation of network restoration. Analysis of DFIG starting with the help of a diesel generator set is

The Harmonic Suppression of DFIG

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
As a result of using converter and the other power electronic devices on the side of doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) rotor, it will produce a large amount of harmonic current at runtime. In order to reduce the harmonic pollution to power network, DFIG uses a variety of harmonic suppression measures.

Matrix converter control for DFIG

2013 IEEE International Conference on Emerging & Sustainable Technologies for Power & ICT in a Developing Society (NIGERCON), 2013
The matrix converter is made up of a matrix of bidirectional switch elements. The output voltage control is achieved by switching between the allowed switching states using a predetermined sequence. Filters can be used to remove the unwanted high frequency components due to the switching.
