Subsynchronous resonance (SSR) issue, namely subsynchronous control interaction (SSCI), was observed in doubly-fed induction generators (DFIGs) based wind farms connected to fixed series compensation. This paper proposes a novel scheme to deactivate SSR by adding subsynchronous suppression filters (SSFs) to DFIG converter controllers.

Matrix converter control for DFIG
2013 IEEE International Conference on Emerging & Sustainable Technologies for Power & ICT in a Developing Society (NIGERCON), 2013The matrix converter is made up of a matrix of bidirectional switch elements. The output voltage control is achieved by switching between the allowed switching states using a predetermined sequence. Filters can be used to remove the unwanted high frequency components due to the switching.

An optimal control strategy for DFIG
2010 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2010For doubly fed induction machines operating as wind generators (DFIG), the terminal voltage and the active power delivered to the grid are controlled by a PWM converter linked to the machine rotor. The monitoring of the direct and quadrature axis components of the rotor voltage makes possible the control of the terminal voltage and active power ...

Nonlinear Decoupling Control of DFIG
Advanced Materials Research, 2013DFIG (Double Fed Induction Generator) becomes a competitive wind power form due to it needs small capacity converter and the controllable of system efficiency and power factor. Aiming at back to back three-phase voltage-type PWM converter of the doubly-fed VSCF wind turbine, the nonlinear mathematical model of the controller of rotor side and network ...

Passivity based control of a DFIG wind turbine
2006 American Control Conference, 2006A novel passivity based control for the electric generator of a wind turbine is presented. Operating points are prescribed to this controller, to maximize generated electric power. The controller is designed using the non-linear model of the electric generator and it is guaranteed to have tracking properties for the electric and mechanical references ...

Sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) occurred in the power system with both Doubly Fed Induction Generators (DFIGs) and series-compensated lines. There have been several papers focusing on the analysis of such SSR phenomenon. To the authors' knowledge, the impacts of DFIG numbers and locations are seldom considered in existing papers.

Impedance modeling of DFIG-wind turbine system
2015 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2015The DFIG-wind turbine, can create the potential instability to the existent power grid, equivalently presenting itself as a random voltage source with its dynamic impedance, which has the implicit and varying electrical characteristics with the changeable rotor speed.

New Protection Scheme of DFIGs
2020This chapter proposes a control strategy of doubly fed induction generators (DFIGs) with new protection schemes for enhancing fault ride through capability of wind farms composed of DFIGs and induction generators (IGs). Since the DFIGs will be stressed or overloaded in the process of stabilizing the wind farm during a grid fault, it is paramount to ...

An Improved HVRT Control Strategy for DFIG
2020 IEEE/IAS Industrial and Commercial Power System Asia (I&CPS Asia), 2020This paper studies the high voltage ride through (HVRT) technology of the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). Presently, traditional vector control strategies based on stator flux orientation (SFO) for rotor-side converter (RSC) always ignore the dynamic variation process of stator magnetizing current.

Review on Grid Connection Technologies of DFIG
Advanced Materials Research, 2012Doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is receiving more attention nowadays due to growing power demand and environmental concerns. In this paper, five main issues of the DFIG associating with the grid-connection, low voltage ride-through (LVRT), maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control strategy, operation in unbalanced voltage condition ...
