Effect of DHA supplementation on DHA status and sperm motility in asthenozoospermic males

Lipids, 2000
AbstractThe effects of supplementation with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) on DHA levels in serum, seminal plasma, and sperm of asthenozoospermic men as well as on sperm motility were examined in a randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled manner. Asthenozoospermic men (n=28; ≤50% motility) were supplemented with 0, 400, or 800 mg DHA/d for 3 mon. Sperm

The metabolism of dehydroacetic acid (DHA)

Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1963
Abstract Dehydroacetic acid (DHA) labeled with C14 in four carbon atoms has been synthesized. DHA administered orally to rabbits at a dose level of 250 mg/kg did not increase the urinary excretion of glucuronides or ethereal sulfates. Small oral doses (20–70 mg/kg) of C14-DHA were not rapidly excreted.

The structure of DHA in phospholipid membranes

Lipids, 2003
AbstractEarly experiments and molecular simulations of PUFA favored a rigid arrangement of double bonds in U‐shaped or extended conformations such as angle‐iron or helical. Although results of recent solid‐state NMR measurements and molecular simulations have confirmed the existence of these structural motifs, they portray an image of DHA (22∶6n−3) as ...

Dihydroxyacetone (DHA)

Archives of Dermatology, 1960
Dihydroxyacetone (DHA),*a degradation product of glucose, has recently created a great deal of interest in the cosmetic industry and among dermatologists because of its unique ability to "tan" the human skin. This preliminary report gives some of our experiences with it.

Anti‐stress effects of DHA

BioFactors, 2000
AbstractDHA is abundant in the brain. Deficiency of DHA changes behavior in animals. The purpose of the present studies was to clarify the effect of DHA intake on hostility and plasma catecholamines. In study 1, forty‐one students took either DHA‐rich oil capsules containing 1.5–1.8 g DHA/d (17 females and 5 males) or control oil capsules containing 97%

Oral DHA supplementation and retinopathy of prematurity: the Joinville DHA Clinical Trial

British Journal of Nutrition
AbstractRetinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a leading cause of blindness in premature infants. The condition is associated with DHA deficiency. This study aimed to investigate the effect of DHA supplementation on the occurrence of ROP in infants receiving oral oil drops. It is part of the Joinville DHA study, a non-parallel-group cohort study conducted
