Commercial Applications of Microalgae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The first use of microalgae by humans dates back 2000 years to the Chinese, who used Nostoc to survive during famine. However, microalgal biotechnology only really began to develop in the middle of the last century.

Effect Differences of Omega‐3 Fatty Acids From Plant Oil and Fish Oil on Human Health

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
Omega‐3 fatty acids in plant oil is no less than fish oil on human health. ALA in plant oil takes directly healthy effects without conversion to DHA and EPA. Plant oil can be substitutes for fish oil to support partial ω‐3 fatty acids. For people who cannot afford fish oil, plant oil is also good for public health.

Polymer‐Crosslinking System‐Filler Interactions in Polychloroprene Adhesives: Experimental and Molecular Modeling Insights

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
The use of polychloroprene is common in elastomeric adhesives. This study highlights the possible substitution of zinc oxide curing systems to a less hazardous metal complex, also evaluating the changes that higher surface area fillers can bring to the adhesive.

Structural Changes Of Dha-Containing Phospholipids By K+ And Na+ Cations In Nerve Cell Membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Understanding the structure and dynamics of a docosa hexaenoic acid (DHA) containing phospholipid monomer within membranes is essential for recognizing the bilayer function in central nervous system. It has been recognized that the electrical impulses in

Dual Functions of Dietary Rubber Seed Oil Supplementation: Enriching N‐3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Enhancing Antioxidant Capacity in Pekin Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.

Analysis of a Mathematical Model of Emerging Infectious Disease Leading to Amphibian Decline

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
We formulate a three-dimensional deterministic model of amphibian larvae population to investigate the cause of extinction due to the infectious disease.

Identifiability for a class of symmetric tensors

open access: yes, 2019
We use methods of algebraic geometry to find new, effective methods for detecting the identifiability of symmetric tensors. In particular, for ternary symmetric tensors T of degree 7, we use the analysis of the Hilbert function of a finite projective set,

Imaging glutathione depletion in the rat brain using ascorbate-derived hyperpolarized MR and PET probes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Oxidative stress is a critical feature of several common neurologic disorders. The brain is well adapted to neutralize oxidative injury by maintaining a high steady-state concentration of small-molecule intracellular antioxidants including glutathione in
