Synthesis of new dihydropyrimidine derivatives and investigation of their antimicrobial and DNA gyrase inhibitory activities

open access: yesArchiv der Pharmazie, Volume 358, Issue 1, January 2025.
New compounds combining 1,4‐dihydropyrimidine, a quinolone isostere, with pyridine/pyrimidine rings were synthesized and evaluated for antibacterial activity. Compounds 5a, 6b, and 6c demonstrated significant bactericidal effects against Escherichia coli and showed DNA gyrase inhibition, as no supercoiled DNA band was observed.

Effect of Ni‐Doping on the Optical, Structural, and Electrochemical Properties of Ag29 Nanoclusters

open access: yesSmall, Volume 21, Issue 2, January 15, 2025.
This study investigates the impact of Ni atom doping on the optical, structural, and electrochemical properties of atomically precise 1,3‐benzene dithiol (BDT) protected Ag29 NCs. Ni doping in Ag29 NCs exhibits enhanced thermal stability and electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) compared to the parent NCs.

A Systems Biology and Drug Repositioning Approach for the Analysis of Mutual Genes Between Celiac Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Celiac disease (CD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are two disorders that share common features, such as similar symptoms and autoimmune involvement. However, the molecular genetic mechanisms underlying their pathogenesis remain unclear. An in silico systems biology approach was performed to analyze the RNA‐seq (GSE146190 and GSE166869) and ...

Type 1 Diabetes Autoimmunity: To What Extent Vitamin D is Beneficial

open access: yesBiochemistry Research International, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Autoimmune disorders, characterized by an overactive immune system attacking healthy tissues, are a significant global health concern. A common thread among these disorders is vitamin D deficiency. While the exact relationship between vitamin D and autoimmunity remains a hot research arena, plenty of reports have suggested a strong association between ...

Generative machine learning models for image synthesis: Advances, challenges, and future directions

open access: yesMachine Learning with Applications
Generative adversarial networks (GANs) are popular models that can learn distributions and high-dimensional data such as images, audio, and texts. While these models have high representational capacity, training them can be difficult.
