Abstract Aim The latitudinal biodiversity gradient is considered a first‐order biogeographical pattern for most taxonomic groups. Latitudinal variation in plant diversity is not always consistent, and this could be related to the particular characteristics of different forest types.

ABSTRACT Objective We aimed to explore fetal cortical brain development by neurosonography in fetuses conceived by assisted reproductive technology (ART), including frozen and fresh embryo transfer (ET), compared with those conceived spontaneously (SC), and to investigate its association with infant neurobehavior at 12 months of age. Methods This was a

Brachycephaly in French bulldogs and pugs is associated with narrow ear canals
Background Brachycephalic dog breeds have multiple skull malformations which may lead to anatomical changes in the external auditory canal. It is our frequent observation that in the otoscopic examination of the external ear in these breeds we are unable to visualise the tympanic membrane as a consequence of extreme narrowing of the proximal ear canal.

Transanal total mesorectal excision for locally advanced middle–low rectal cancers
A prospective study was undertaken of 38 patients with mid–low locally advanced rectal cancer who underwent rectal resection with transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) procedure. No conversions, abdominoperineal resections or deaths occurred. TaTME is safe and effective for patients with mid–low locally advanced rectal cancer.
