Homocysteine Promotes the Pathogenesis of Atherosclerosis through the Circ‐PIAS1‐5/miR‐219a‐2‐3p/TEAD1 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A model is schematically represented for the major molecular mechanisms by which homocysteine (Hcy) accelerates the nuclear export of circ‐PIAS1‐5, which regulates atherosclerosis by acting as a competing endogenous RNA for miR‐219a‐2‐3p. Hcy enrichment of circ‐PIAS1‐5 leads to YTHDC1 binding to circ‐PIAS1‐5 and promotes its intracellular localization ...

Targeted Delivery of α‐ketoglutarate to Macrophages in Bone: A Novel Therapeutic Strategy for Improving Fracture Healing in Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study reveals that glutaminolysis in macrophages is inhibited under type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) conditions, which impedes fracture healing by reducing bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2) production through increased cytosine methylation on the promoter.

Functional Complete Revascularization as Determined by an Optimized Scoring System After Revascularization: A Post Hoc Analysis from Multi‐Center PANDA III Trial

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The modified residual functional SYNTAX score (m‐rFSS) algorithm was updated for 2 clinical scenarios: 1) lesions with suboptimal functional results, and 2) angiographic diameter stenosis <50% but functionally significant stenoses, which were not scored by classic rFSS or rSS.

Glomerulonephritis In Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yesAsian Journal of Health Sciences, 2013
Glomerulonephritis is also known as glomerular nephritis (GN) or glomerular disease. It is a disease of the kidney, characterized by inflammation of the glomeruli. The present study was undertaken with the objectives to explore the incidence and clinical profile of non diabetic renal disease in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, to observe renal histology, to ...

Prussian‐Blue Catalysis and NFC Synergy: a Battery‐Free Laser‐Induced Graphene‐Based Platform for Urine Glucose Monitoring at Point‐of‐Care

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, Merkoçi and his research group present a polymer‐based synthesis to enhance the stability of Prussian blue (PB) nanoparticles. The resulting PB‐infused catalytic hetero‐interface architecture (PB‐CHIA) achieves complete two‐dimensional (2D) and three‐dimensional (3D) substrate coverage (glassy carbon and laser‐induced graphene electrodes)
