Accelerated biological aging, healthy behaviors, and genetic susceptibility with incidence of stroke and its subtypes: A prospective cohort study

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 4, April 2025.
This study identifies a significant association between accelerated biological aging, measured by clinical biomarker‐based KDM‐BA and PhenoAge accelerations, and an increased risk of stroke and its subtypes. The combination of accelerated biological aging with high genetic risk helps identify high‐risk populations on stroke development.

Low Red Blood Cell Vitamin C Concentrations Induce Red Blood Cell Fragility: A Link to Diabetes Via Glucose, Glucose Transporters, and Dehydroascorbic Acid

open access: yesEBioMedicine, 2015
Strategies to prevent diabetic microvascular angiopathy focus on the vascular endothelium. Because red blood cells (RBCs) are less deformable in diabetes, we explored an original concept linking decreased RBC deformability to RBC ascorbate and ...

Variable Weights Neural Network For Diabetes Classification [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
As witnessed in the past year, where the world was brought to the ground by a pandemic, fighting Life-threatening diseases have found greater focus than ever. The first step in fighting a disease is to diagnose it at the right time. Diabetes has been affecting people for a long time and is growing among people faster than ever. The number of people who

Liraglutide improves peripheral perfusion and markers of angiogenesis and inflammation in people with type 2 diabetes and peripheral artery disease: An 18‐month follow‐up of a randomized clinical trial

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims In a six‐month randomized clinical trial, improved peripheral perfusion has been shown with liraglutide, associated with favourable vascular effects in people with type 2 diabetes and peripheral artery disease (PAD). We aimed to evaluate the durability of these benefits and to elucidate some mechanisms underlying liraglutide's effect over

HealthEdge: A Machine Learning-Based Smart Healthcare Framework for Prediction of Type 2 Diabetes in an Integrated IoT, Edge, and Cloud Computing System [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Diabetes Mellitus has no permanent cure to date and is one of the leading causes of death globally. The alarming increase in diabetes calls for the need to take precautionary measures to avoid/predict the occurrence of diabetes. This paper proposes HealthEdge, a machine learning-based smart healthcare framework for type 2 diabetes prediction in an ...
