Cystoid Maculopathy in Diabetics

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1976
Three patients with long-standing diabetes manifested reduced visual acuity and notable bilateral symmetrical cystoid maculopathy, with no other sign of meaningful background diabetic retinopathy, eg, minimal to no microaneurysms, hemorrhages, or exudates. Results of fluorescein angiography showed that the entire retinal capillary bed in the macula was

Diabetic maculopathy.

Transactions of the Ophthalmological Society of New Zealand, 1977
The incidence, pathogenesis, and treatment of diabetic maculopathy are discussed. A plea is made for earlier, more discrete treatment that may improve the chances of prolonging sharp central vision.

Visual acuity and diabetic maculopathy

Annals of Ophthalmology, 2006
We investigated the relationship between visual acuity (VA) and glycosylated hemoglobin, and the presentation and type of diabetic maculopathy retrospectively from 2000 to 2003. Data on 103 eyes of 75 patients were gathered. No statistically significant correlation was found between serum HbA1c with maculopathy type.

DIABETIC MACULOPATHY AND CATARACT SURGERY

Ophthalmology Clinics of North America, 2001
Patients with diabetic mellitus have an increased risk of developing cataract. Many such patients have pre-existing diabetic retinopathy at the time of cataract surgery Although more than 90% of the patients who have no pre-existing diabetic retinopathy carry a good visual prognosis and eventually have 20/40 or better visual acuity, nearly one-third of

Macular Hole in Diabetic Maculopathy

Ophthalmologica, 1978
Three patients with diabetic maculopathy had macular holes. It is suggested that shrinkage or traction of the fibrous proliferation on the edematous and exudative macula led to the formation of these macular holes. Photocoagulation is recommended in patients with macular holes with progressive diabetic retinopathy and visual acuity of less than 0.1.

Age-Related Maculopathy and Diabetes

European Journal of Ophthalmology, 2008
Purpose To compare the prevalence of age-related maculopathy (ARM) in a sample of diabetic patients with the general population. Methods Binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy, biomicroscopy, and fluorescein angiography. Retrospective prevalence study; descriptive-observational case-control type.

[Diabetic maculopathy].

Der Ophthalmologe : Zeitschrift der Deutschen Ophthalmologischen Gesellschaft, 2016
Diabetic maculopathy is the result of multifactorial and complex alterations of the retinal capillaries in association with diabetes mellitus and is divided into two forms, ischemic maculopathy and diabetic macular edema. Diabetic macular edema is the leading cause of blindness among people of working age.

Diabetic maculopathy.

Metabolic, pediatric, and systemic ophthalmology, 1984
This paper discusses a special group of diabetics (maturity onset) who present with a particular form of retinopathy. The pathology is restricted to the macular zone with minimal other retinopathic complications such as detachment, proliferans, or neovascularization.

Race, Macular Degeneration, and Diabetic Maculopathy

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1993
We read with interest the editorial by Jampol and Tielsch 1 in the December 1992 issue of theArchives. The authors pointed out that data from the Macular Photocoagulation Study indicate that choroidal neovascularization resulting from age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is rare in black patients.

STEREOSCOPIC FLUORESCEIN ANGIOGRAPHY IN DIABETIC MACULOPATHY

Retina, 2006
To explore the possible differences in the depth location of microaneurysms in focal as well as diffuse diabetic macular edema. The density of superficial and deep retinal microaneurysms was assessed using a stereoscopic fluorescein angiographic method. The density of deep retinal microaneurysms was nearly identical in the group with diffuse macular ...
