The mediating role of genes in the influence of intestinal flora on type 2 diabetes and the screening of diagnostic markers

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Using Mendelian randomization, TWAS/eQTL analysis, machine learning, and single‐cell RNA sequencing, this study identified gut microbiota taxa causally linked to type 2 diabetes, candidate mediator genes, and diagnostic markers (BEND7, BLVRA, C1orf85, and LAMC1).

Impact of system updates for sensor‐augmented pump therapy on glycemic management in Japanese individuals with type 1 diabetes (SAP‐J T1D study)

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Sequential updates from MiniMed 620G to 640G and then to 770G were associated with stepwise improvements in glycemic management in Japanese individuals with type 1 diabetes. The transition to MiniMed 640G was mainly associated with reduced hypoglycemia, whereas the subsequent transition to MiniMed 770G was associated with reduced hyperglycemia.

Intensified multifactorial intervention leads to long‐term benefit on kidney outcomes in advanced diabetic kidney disease: A 10‐year follow‐up of the DNETT‐Japan trial

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Despite recent therapeutic advances in slowing kidney disease progression, the long‐term efficacy of intensive multifactorial treatment in advanced‐stage diabetic kidney disease remains unclear. We assessed long‐term kidney outcomes through the 5‐year Diabetic Nephropathy Remission and Regression Team Trial in Japan (DNETT‐Japan ...

Combined sleep behaviors, mediating biomarkers, and incident vascular complications among individuals with type 2 diabetes: A prospective study in UK Biobank

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Among UK Biobank participants with type 2 diabetes, combined healthy sleep behaviors were associated with lower risks of vascular complications. Lipid and inflammatory biomarkers partially mediated these associations. ABSTRACT Aims To prospectively examine how combined sleep behaviors affect vascular complications in type 2 diabetes, whether these ...

The miR‐145‐5p/NRF2/SLC7A11 axis regulates ferroptosis‐mediated renal tubular epithelial cell injury in diabetic nephropathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Suppression of miR‐145‐5p alleviates DN‐associated renal tissue damage by inhibiting NRF2/SLC7A11‐mediated ferroptosis of RTECs. ABSTRACT Purpose This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanism by which the miR‐145‐5p/NRF2/SLC7A11 axis regulates ferroptosis‐mediated renal tubular epithelial cell (RTEC) injury in diabetic nephropathy (DN ...
