Overcoming Polyatomic Interferences in Sulfur Isotope Measurement Using MC‐ICP‐MS

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points Optimising plasma conditions via the normalised argon index (NAI) reduces polyatomic interferences, allowing accurate sulfur isotope measurement in low‐resolution mode on MC‐ICP‐MS. Low‐resolution mode enhances sensitivity by approximately threefold compared with conventional high‐resolution analysis.

«Se lo llevó El Chamuco». El trato familiar hacia el Diablo en algunos ejemplos de la literatura oral de México / «Se lo llevó El Chamuco». The familiar treatment of the Devil in some examples from Mexican oral literature

Role of Smac/DIABLO in cancer progression

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2008
Second mitochondria-derived activator of caspase/direct inhibitor of apoptosis-binding protein with low pI (Smac/DIABLO) is a proapoptogenic mitochondrial protein that is released to the cytosol in response to diverse apoptotic stimuli, including ...

Diablo Canyon power plant site ecological study Quarterly Report no. 17: July 1 - September 30, 1977 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
During the quarter a total of 38 random 30-m2 and 152 random 1/4-m2 subtidal stations were surveyed. Red abalone, Haliotis rufescens, densities remained very low.

‘Beating the App’ or Pyrrhic Victories? Gamification, Workaholism and FoMo in UK Food‐Delivery Platforms

open access: yesNew Technology, Work and Employment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article examines the relationship between the gamification of platform food‐delivery work and workaholism. Drawing on a qualitative study, our findings suggest that while financial needs act as a ‘push’ factor, encouraging workers to enter off‐line platform work, gamification serves as a ‘pull’ factor ‐ driving an introjected motivation ...

Non-apoptotic activity of the mitochondrial protein SMAC/Diablo in lung cancer: Novel target to disrupt survival, inflammation, and immunosuppression

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
Mitochondrial SMAC/Diablo induces apoptosis by binding the inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs), thereby activating caspases and, subsequently, apoptosis.

Effects of temperature on sexual competition in three kelp species, Pterygophora californica, Nereocystis luetkeana, and Macrocystis pyrifera: Implications for range shifts in foundation species

open access: yesPhycological Research, EarlyView.
SUMMARY Kelp forests are threatened by rising ocean temperatures. However, the effects of warming on early life stage interactions among co‐occurring kelp species, particularly competitive dynamics and reproductive timing, remain poorly understood. This study investigates the effects of temperature on embryonic sporophyte competitive interactions and ...

Bayesian inference of historical streamflow changes suggests further stress in the Colorado River Basin

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies
Study region: Colorado River Basin (CRB), North America Study focus: Bayesian inference is used to analyze long-term streamflow in the CRB. Key parameters describing long-term hydroclimatic changes are integrated into a state-space model (SSM).

Diablo Canyon power plant site ecological study; Quarterly Report No. 11; January 1 - March 31, 1976 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
Permanent subtidal stations 6, 11 and 16 were surveyed. Appreciable increases in densities of one species of brown algae and five species of macroinvertebrates were noted at station 6.
