The impact of plasma glucose decline rate on cardiac repolarisation in individuals with type 1 diabetes

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 10, Page 5587-5598, October 2025.
Abstract Aims To investigate whether plasma glucose decline rates influence cardiac repolarisation, transmural dispersion and counterregulatory hormones in individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D) with and without good glycaemic control. Materials and Methods In a randomised crossover study, 20 young men with T1D (10 well‐regulated (HbA1c ≤53 mmol/mol ...

Variability of the Heart Rhythm as an Additional Marker for Determining Vegetative Functions in Patients with Chronic Cerebral Ischemia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Aim. Practical cardiology is in constant search for non-invasive vascular risk markers. Heart rhythm reflects the body\u27s response to various stimuli of the external and internal environment. Heart rate variability (HRV) has a prognostic and diagnostic

Characterization of B Cell Responses in Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus Mykiss) Affected by Red Mark Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 35, September 18, 2025.
This study extensively characterizes the B cell response of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in response to red mark syndrome (RMS). This disease, suspected to be caused by a Midichloria‐like organism (MLO), induces skin lesions in the infected animals, characterized by a massive influx of IgM+ B cells.

Recognition of Glycine Versus Nonglycine Citrulline Motifs Dictating the HLA Class II Association of Anticitrullinated Protein Antibodies: Insights From Autoantibody Profiling of 6,900 Scandinavian Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Volume 77, Issue 9, Page 1179-1193, September 2025.
Objective Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)–associated anticitrullinated protein antibodies (ACPAs) target various antigens by binding short citrulline amino acid motifs, resulting in heterogeneous ACPA profiles among patients. Here we analyzed ACPA patterns by recognized citrulline motifs in relation to the RA risk factors HLA‐DRB1 shared epitope (SE) alleles

Fibroblast Cyclo‐Oxygenase‐2 Associated With the Kidney Restrains Methylarginines and Thrombosis: Relevance to Cardiovascular Side Effects of Non‐Steroidal Anti‐Inflammatory Drugs

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 16, 31 August 2025.
Our findings from cell‐specific mouse models suggest COX‐2 in fibroblasts in the kidney regulate methylarginine pathways. When this is blocked, ADMA accumulates in the circulation to cause systemic nitric oxide synthase inhibition and resulting in increased in thrombotic tone.

Evaluation of Colistin Susceptibility in Carbapenem‐Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii Isolates Using Broth Microdilution, MICRONAUT‐MIC‐Strip, and VITEK MS

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 14, Issue 4, August 2025.
The colistin susceptibility of 194 carbapenem‐resistant Acinetobacter baumannii isolates was assessed using broth microdilution (BMD), MICRONAUT‐MIC‐Strip (MMS), and VITEK MS–based MALDIxin methods. MMS demonstrated high categorical (98.9%) and essential (96.3%) agreement with BMD, with no very major errors.
