Predicting Potential Distribution of the Acanthopanax Sessiliflorus in China Under Future Climate Scenarios Based the Optimized Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) Model

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
In this study, we employed an optimized MaxEnt model combined with environmental variables to predict the potential habitat suitability for Acanthopanax sessiliflorus under various future climate projections. Our findings indicate that climate change will likely alter the geographic distribution of this species, with potential shifts in suitable ...

Enhancing Interpretability and Explainability of Protein Function Prediction ML Model Using Explainable AI

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 6, June 2026.
This systematic review traces the evolution of protein function prediction from experimental methods through homology‐based tools, ML and DL to XAI. While deep learning models achieve state‐of‐the‐art predictive accuracy, their black‐box nature limits biological insight and clinical trust.

Climatic, lithologic and topographic control on alpine rock fracturing and talus evolution

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 6, June 2026.
Investigating Holocene rockwall–talus systems in an Alpine valley revealed that lithologic and topographic conditions in concert with climatic‐driven stresses and time since deglaciation result in rockwall fracture patterns that control rockfall size, erosion rates and the characteristics and evolution of talus.

Primary Somatosensory to Motor Cortex Microstructural Connectivity Predicts the Mu‐Rhythm Phase Effect on Corticospinal Excitability: An EEG‐TMS Study

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 8, June 1, 2026.
Sensorimotor mu‐rhythm phase modulates corticospinal excitability; however, the influence of mu‐phase varies across individuals and could be related to microstructural connectivity between primary somatosensory (S1) and motor (M1) cortices. Our findings suggest that higher S1–M1 microstructural connectivity is associated with a stronger mu‐phase effect
