Evaluation of the normal equations for the analysis of diallels
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1982Analysis of diallel experiments usually requires specialised computer programs. A simple relationship between the normal equations for a diallel and the normal equations for a hypothetical model in which the general combining ability factor is viewed as two separate distinct simple factors may be useful in adapting general statistical analysis packages

Diallel analysis of bolting in sugarbeet
The Journal of Agricultural Science, 1993SUMMARYA half-diallel design, with parents, involving a random sample of nine partially inbred (S1) lines was used to examine the genetic control of bolting in a broad-based North-West European sugarbeet breeding population. The diallel was analysed using the Hayman (1954a) and Jinks & Hayman (1953) analyses.

A diallel analysis of solids in tomatoes
Euphytica, 1966A diallel analysis was used to estimate certain genetic parameters for soluble solids in tomatoes. All crosses of small- x small-fruited strains and some small- x large-fruited crosses showed heterosis in the F1 with the means exceeding the top parent.

Diallel analysis for sex-linked and maternal effects
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1996Genetic models including sex-linked and maternal effects as well as autosomal gene effects are described. Monte Carlo simulations were conducted to compare efficiencies of estimation by minimum norm quadratic unbiased estimation (MINQUE) and restricted maximum likelihood (REML) methods.

Analysis of Partial Diallel Crosses in Incomplete Blocks
Biometrical Journal, 1998Summary: With a large number of lines in a diallel cross experiment, the number of crosses becomes unmanageable to be accommodated in homogeneous blocks. To overcome this problem, a sample of crosses, known as partial diallel crosses (PDC), is often used.

Correct equations for comparing models in diallel analysis
Journal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, 1994SummaryCorrect equations are given to express the parameter estimates of four models for complete diallels as a function of the parameter estimates in the model of Eisen et al. (1983). In recent literature these equations have been partly incorrect.ZusammenfassungKorrekte Gleichungen für den Vergleich von Modellen in der DiallelanalyseFür die ...

Analysis of diallel cross in Phaseolus aureus roxb
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1971In a diallel cross of Phaseolus aureus involving five varieties, combining ability and gene action for grain yield, grains per pod and pods per plant were estimated. The study indicated that both general combining ability and specific combining ability effects were significant and important for all three traits.

A diallel analysis of male mouse sex behavior
Behavior Genetics, 1972Seventeen sex behavior variables resulting from 538 matings by 135 males of A/J, C57BL/6J, and DBA/2J inbred mouse strains and their reciprocal hybrids were analyzed using the diallel cross, fixed-effects model for maternal effects. Proportions of total genetic variance ranged from 0.09 to 0.62. Proportions of variance due to common genic contributions

The Analysis of Variance of Diallel Tables
Biometrics, 1954A diallel cross is the set of n2 possible single crosses and selfs between n homozygous (inbred) lines; it provides a powerful method of investigating the relative genetical properties of these lines. A diallel table is a set of n2 measurements associated with a diallel cross, e.g.

Multivariate Extension of Griffing's Diallel Analysis
Journal of Agronomy and Crop Science, 1986AbstractDiallel‐cross designs have been used extensively in plant and animal breeding programs. In most cases, multiple traits are measured in the study, but the analyses are performed on each trait separately. The objective of this paper is to provide an alternative multivariate procedure so that the combining abilities among traits can be evaluated ...
