Retinal Dialysis

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1980
Analysis of 196 patients with retinal dialysis indicated that unilateral nasal and superior dialyses almost invariably were produced by trauma (87.5%). A traumatic cause is proposed for unilateral inferotemporal dialyses, which also had an inordinately high rate of trauma (56%).

Dialysis

Current Protocols in Protein Science, 1995
AbstractThis appendix describes dialysis of large‐ and small‐volume samples using cellulose membranes with pore sizes designed to exclude molecules above a selected molecular weight. A support protocol describes preparation of membranes for dialysis.

Complementary Dialysis for Daily Dialysis

Blood Purification, 2004
The greatest benefit of PD ist the continuous maintenance of a stable electrolyte and acid-base balance, as well as a continuous solute, sodium and water removal. Moreover, PD is effective in preserving residual renal function (RRF). However, when RRF declines, complications will occur if not compensated for by an increase in both the dialysis dose and

Shipboard Dialysis

Journal of Dialysis, 1977
With better understanding of the pathophysiology of uremia, the development of more efficient dialysis techniques and more portable machinery, a larger number of patients on maintenance dialysis are not stable enough to undertake travel to places where a regular hemodialysis center may not be availabel or to travel on a ship for a relatively long ...

Peritoneal dialysis

Nursing Standard, 2005
Peritoneal dialysis has much to offer patients with chronic renal failure who wish to manage their care and live relatively independent lives. The authors discuss different peritoneal dialysis treatments, patient selection, benefits and the management of potential complications.

Dialysis cultures

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1998
Dialysis techniques are discussed as a means for effective removal of low-molecular-mass components from fermentation broth to reach high cell density. Reactor systems and process strategies, the relevant properties of membranes and examples for high-density fermentation with dialysis, and problems related to scale-up are addressed.

Dialysis techniques: peritoneal dialysis

2004
Peritoneal dialysis (PD) has now become an established form of renal replacement therapy. Its use throughout the world is increasing, and it has provided a means of managing some patients who would have otherwise been denied treatment because hemodialysis was inappropriate, had failed or was unavailable.
