Diaphragm as an anatomic surrogate for lung tumor motion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Lung tumor motion due to respiration poses a challenge in the application of modern three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy. Direct tracking of the lung tumor during radiation therapy is very difficult without implanted fiducial markers. Indirect tracking relies on the correlation of the tumor's motion and the surrogate's motion.

A Novel Protein‐Polysaccharide Oral Nanoemulsion Targeting Activated Hepatic Stellate Cells to Enhance the Therapeutic Effect of Pirfenidone on Fibrosis After Transarterial Chemoembolization for Liver Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE) may aggravate liver fibrosis. In this study, a novel oral targeting nanoemulsion is fabricated to enhance the therapeutic effect of antifibrotic drug‐pirfenidone (PFD) on fibrosis after TACE. Studies have shown that PFD nanoemulsion can enhance the oral liver targeting effect of PFD, and effectively improve the ...

Stability of bakeable capacitance diaphragm gauges [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Here, we study the stability of capacitance diaphragm gauges. We focus on their stability before and after a controlled series of bakes. We find that baking results in appreciable shifts of the zero offset, but note that these can easily be corrected at time of use.

Pneumatic Pressure Control Using on‐off Valves with Pulse Width Modulation

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 46, Issue 1, Page 21-28, January 2023., 2023
To reduce hysteresis and improve accuracy of a two‐stage airplane flow valve, an on‐off switching valve with its pulse width modulation (PWM) control is proposed as a first stage in replacement of a currently used servomotor‐controlled valve. A method is introduced for properly choosing the on‐off valve and tuning the PWM parameters.

A patient-specific respiratory model of anatomical motion for radiation treatment planning [PDF]

open access: yesMed. Phys. 34, 4772 (2007), 2007
Modeling of respiratory motion is important for a more accurate understanding and accounting of its effect on dose to cancers in the thorax and abdomen by radiotherapy. We have developed a model of respiration-induced organ motion in the thorax, without the commonly adopted assumption of repeatable breath cycles.

Chloride‐Mediated Electron Buffering on Ni‐Fe Anodes for Ampere‐Level Alkaline Seawater Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Utilizing abundant chloride ion (Cl−) of seawater, the small organic molecule (SOM) layer on the electrocatalyst surface is converted to SOM‐Cl layer. Meanwhile, the conjugated structure of SOM is modified. SOM‐Cl layer can effectively mitigate the damage caused by the highly oxidative environment.
